Because they believe their customers are bloody stupid has something to do with it, this lie is so easily debunked that I'm surprised they have the audacity to even say it.When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

That happens time after time. It took three emails from me to get ASDA to admit that they own the car parks in both Retford and Grantham. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Same has just happened to me this morning at ASDA, completely forgot to buy a ticket, spent over £50 went back to car to find a smart parking fine, went straight back in to asda to customer services - with receipt, the woman told me it had nothing to do with them and that 'the council' owns it. However after reading this thread I am not paying it!
Asda have form for lying like that before.
They have the contract with Smart Parking - this IS Asda's fault that customers are being victimised like this by a third party who have a terrible online reputation and were recently temporarily banned by the DVLA. I guess local shop workers do not know this but frankly I think they should know, if they are having to deal with angry customers there is no excuse for fobbing them off with wrong answers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It wasn't shop workers in my case. It was the head office "customer service" bods that gave me that duff information. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Writing to ASDA head office and asking for a copy of the contract that gives the PPC authority to take private individuals to county court for unpaid parking invoices is what I would do - I would do this after receiving a few threatening letters mentioning court or debt collectors and remind ASDA that they are in FACT responsible for the actions of a contractor working on there property.
Also inform them that you will be seeking to publisise this parking issue on social media and with the BBC TV programs Rogue Traders and Watchdog.
They will NOT want to disclose this in any event and if its not forthcoming - put this in an appeal to POPLA also - this then is the grounds for an appeal
The parking charge is not applicable because the operator does not have sufficient propriety interest in the land to form a contract with the registered keeper of the vehicle.
IF it did exsist - then it would be ASDA taking one of their own customers to court......not going to happen for a quid parking fee that is in fact refundable at checkout
The whole thing is FARCE - juat need to know what they need in place to have even the slightest hope of a win at court (which is near impossible) and the negative PR is just what they will not want......
Just what I would do now knowing what I do about how this little dirty retailers secret is played out - Its a money maker for them no doubt.0 -
so glad i have saw this post. i went shopping at asda st helens today for the first(and last) time. It was raining and i had my toddler with me so ran head down into store(therefore not seeing any signs). Done my shopping (63 quids worth , took about an hour) and come out to see a parking ticket on my car. i rang smart parking ( before i thought to look on here ) and they said to appeal it. should i or should i just ignore them??0

Ignore Smart*rse Parking, but by all means complain to ASDA. And why not return the goods you bought and ask for a refund as you can no longer afford them now that you have a ticket?Je Suis Cecil.0
