Impressive. A Sky bill of £200.

Regardless of the outcome of your conversation with Halifax, get over to the Debt-free Wannabe board and ask for help with your finances.

My guess is you need it.

Can some one please explain to me how Sky took a payment from my Bank account (the balance was 0) before the due date...
How do you know the due date? Do you have any bill showing it? And regardless, the due date on the bill shows the last day you can pay, not the payment date. For, say, a DD there always is a separate line saying when the payment will be taken by a DD.
  • The bill states how much is owed on the account and the date specified says it will be taken ON OR AFTER THIS DATE. Even when I spoke to the chat operator at sky he stated to me that sky will never take a payment early.

Google "sky taken payment before due date" and you'll find lots of threads elsewhere with people who have experienced the same thing. If you look carefully you'll see how some people have successfully complained to Sky.
  • FINALLY! A constructive answer. Thanks Shortcrust I'll give it a look.

I'm reading between the lines, so I could be barking up the wrong tree. I see financial difficulties here though.

But owing Sky £200 will either mean a large up front cost for service or late payments.

If it's late payments, effectively all bets are off. You're past a previous due date where they've failed to get the money due.

Addressing the root cause of this will make your life better.
  • Apologies opinions4u but your assumption is way out. The root cause is Sky arranging a date they will take the money and then deciding to take it before. The money is not a problem, I take issue with companies picking and choosing what agreements they stick to. If I am told that a bill is due on the 20th and they will not collect it before then, I make sure the funds are in on the 20th, that's what a dedicated account for bills is for.

    So £200 is for what?
  • I'm sorry I didn't know broadcasting the details of my Sky package was a prerequisite of asking for help on this forum.

It isn't. Sorry if I've hit a nerve.
