Fantastic work on your savings!
I'm glad L2 is nice, its unfortunate a lot of people are suspicious of quieter people. Happened to me a few times through out teens - early 20's, ironically it was always the loudest of the group that would be the most suspicious? L1 will come around given time I'm sure.
I am impressed at how much time you dedicate to studying. I want to do a course through work but I just don't see how I'll find the time, after work I am shattered!
Hope you enjoyed your walk xMFW

I woke up at 5 am, I'd give anything for an 8-hour nights sleep. Think I'm going to look at getting some pills for anxiety - only that I'm not sure I can manage the first couple of weeks, when they mess with your body, as I need to do my long days at work. And can't really afford to take two weeks off, as need to keep them for study. Going to try walking and running, and then see how I do.
Slimming world tomorrow, I'm determined.
Also back on green smoothies, I really feel like if I only put more effort into preparing meals, I'll snack less, also if I do more sports I will sleep better.
Money-wise, just plodding along really. Not wishing my life away, but I wish there was another pay day mid- month!!! One just isn't enough;) also, my lodgers now both pay on 25th, and I get paid on the 28th, so that's a bit boring! It all comes at once and then a long month of nothing
Studying starts again on Monday and I've decided to go for developmental over cognitive psychology. I love the psychology of personality and individual differences, so that's the one I can get more involved in, which should make it more fun. I love studying! Such a terrible geek.
It's an expensive route to fulfilment though, as it's going to cost me £400 - eek! I'm going to stick it on the new B/card, the one with 20 months' no interest. I'd rather not spend my cash. If the higher than expected uni fees mean that I have to wait another month to be debt neutral, so be it.
I'll have to start using YNAB again, and start using it not to record my spending, but to make spending decisions. New month starts tomorrow, so that should be good. Less frittering, fewer meals out, more socialising over coffee. I've bought some new clothes recently, so that should help with not buying much more. Targeted action.
Feeling a bit blah about dating at the moment, so that makes it easy too. Fewer spends there. Studying starts so that will keep me busy. Also thinking about getting in touch with some local educational psychologists and asking if I can volunteer with them - probably just do their admin, if that - or, failing that, loom for another volunteering opportunity that's relevant. Maybe a local brain injury centre for adults that I could walk to, or a local primary school. I think that would be a good thing for me too. Lots of positivity to be got out of volunteering. It will put my study into context too. I can only do half of my study day, but half a day is better than no day. Maybe someone will be interested.
Time to get up now and go for a walk!
Hi Catriona, I hope you enjoyed your walk. Hopefully that will help you sleep better tonight. The green smoothies sound......erm........delicious :rotfl:
Why don't you hold the lodgers money back until the 15th or something? Do they pay cash? Or if they pay electronically, transfer it to a holding account then transfer it back on your chosen day. Boom! 2 different paydays :rotfl:
YNAB is tricky sometimes, and I know I don't use it properly with importing and all that. I just like to allocate every pound then tell myself I have no money to spend, but if I do, I have to borrow from another category if I've gone over. I roughly know what's in what budget but I just try not to spend any of it. But that's what they say, to roll with the punches. Do you sweep the pennies over? Do you do any challenges? Maybe this would help with budgeting and keeping up the enthusiasm?
You're really motivated with your studying :T That's brilliant about volunteering too. Maybe you'll meet Mr Right through all this

He he Ena, no green smoothies for you? Not a fan? Lots of people I work with think they look odd and smell dos gusting - ESP when I've blended kale - raw cabbage ha ha!!! Delicious and nutritious.
Ha, that might be an idea with the lodgers' income. They do a bank transfer, so I could stick it in another account.
Roll with the punches is the name of the game!! Ah, I need to update my YNAB.
Also, need to pay for uni today and do a few little jobs too.
Still got to choose between cognitive an developmental to study this trimester. And start my application for next year. Busy day ahead.
Aargh. My ex has been in touch, same old, he still loves me! Incredible. Grrrrrrrr. I have actually exploded in response (all on text), which I now feel guilty about and am torn between wanting to apologise to feel better and not wanting to start another conversation.
Got to concentrate on studying. And try to schedule in some time to start meeting new people and keep myself distracted.
Went to my meditation class yesterday, which was good.
Now got to get up and do some fly lady chores!!!
Also, I actually went to Slimming World on Monday and so ill be interested to see if I can curb my snacking, without completely depriving myself. What I have found works is those tiny dairy milk choc buttons packets, because they are so small, they last longer and make me feel satisfied, and I've only had 25g chocolate.

Ha, double update day.
I have received a missive from Nationwide, who I have my mortgage with. When I first got it, I was given a date for it go go online, and then it wasn't there. I wrote to them, was told twice in a row that they were personally taking care of making sure I can see my mortgage in online banking, but nothing was happening! I was getting annoyed with them so after the third time unlucky, I wrote to them something in the spirit of "do any of you actually do what you say" and "I'd like to make a formal complaint"I know it sounds a bit OTT, but they were taking ages and Everybody was telling me "in five working days" and then nothing happened.
So, long story short, they did actually take it as a complaint, and today I've got an offer of £50 through the door, if I agree to a final settlement. I've never had that happen to me! I'm not sure I like the person I'm becoming  but 50 squid is 50 squid. So :T overall!

Ha, a free £50 is amazing and I'm very happy with it! Fingers crossed they mess up your remortgage too!!!! :rotfl::T
I'm so hungover today, eek.
I will need to sit down and look at my finances again. Think I've been rather bad in the last couple /3 months. Time to curb the spending. It was mostly on reduced clothes, which was nice to do, and I only buy them in the sales. But still it makes me feel guilty.

Wednesday morning - my day off. Still in bed. Mmmmm this is the life!:)
Quite a few things to do, big things too. Uni coursework, masters application for next year. Feeling a little bit overwhelmed by it all! Might pop out now and get going - think I need a big frying pan for the house, and to get out for a little bit. Also, need to clear out some cupboards - too many bits and pieces like old curtains still in there. They need to go! At least in the loft.
But the sooner I get going, the better it will be. Reading on cognitive psychology to be done - so very exciting!!
I've sorted out YNAB this morning, so it all ties up. Bit of a disappointing drop, but only more motivation to try hard now and throughout March and April. Not long now!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

I hope you managed to get some of the things done on your list. Decluttering seems to be a constant battle, and then it's the old, I'll hang on to it just in case dilemma!
