Thanks Rosy, that's a lovely message.
In money news, I'm proud of myself as I need a monitor for my uni work, it would be easier to work with one, instead of just the small laptop screen. I went to look at one this afternoon, it was lovely, but I said no, it will have to wait until the Virgin card is paid off!
And L2 didn't get the job, so the income is staying for a little while. I'm sure she will keep on trying, and I do hope she finds another one, of course, I have no doubt that's she will!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Far from being pleased at L2's misfortune in not getting the job, I am actually feeling a bit better knowing that I will not have to deal with looking for and then getting used to another new person in the house. It introduces quite a bit of anxiety and causes sleepless nights.
I know that L2's heart is set on moving closer to her family, and that its just a matter of months. In practical terms, I need 4 more months of income (up to and including the salary of 28 February 2016) to become debt neutral.
Of course all this could change, if for example I am told tomorrrow that im being made redundant. But, fingers crossed this will not happen.
Plan for today is to have a non spend day and to batch cook my lunch for Monday and Tuesday.
University fees are due and I have got two parking tickets for overstaying on a local supermarket car park - which is £80 and a real annoyance. I was only about 20mins over 1.5 hours. Had done that before for years with no consequence, and now two fines arrived in quick succession. Well, that will teach me. I only ever got one car parking fine before, so I'm going to let myself off and stop worrying about it, and never do it again!
I had a nice date again yesterday. A genuine man, and a quality man I think. He said that he wanted to see me again. Divorced, no children. Intelligent and really nice. Made me laugh a couple of times and made me think too. We shall see!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

I forgot to relay the end of the friend loan saga.
I have offered to spread it across 10 months and my friend asked me for my bank details to set up the direct debit. Let's see what happens and if she pays up.
I read an article recently about people using Facebook to sell to their friends and how it caused the friends anxiety. I don't understand why people do it. Desperation, I suppose. But also financial naivety, believing that there are ways to get rich fast..!?* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Hello all,
Logging in very briefly to share great news from this morning. Noddle sent me an email early this morning that I have a new credit report waiting for me. I logged in to check as couldn't sleep at 4am, and to my amazement my score has gone up further and is now 5/5. Just to set the scene, it was 3/5 since buying the house and even went down to 2/5 for a bit! So this really is cause for celebration.
I know that in the grand scheme of things, this is fairly meaningless - but I'm going to take inspiration and positivity from this and celebrate the fact that I have slowly, over 5 years, managed to dig myself out of the hole.
Obviously ive still got a fair bit further to go, to become free of debt and secure with an emergency fund; and my financial credibility may dip following the mortgage application (Noddle is a few months behind, so you never know), but I'm looking on the bright side. This is telling me that I'm doing better! So many sleepless nights, so much worry and it's coming to the end of this long journey.
I might have a glass of wine tonight to celebrate!!!

After all that, there has been no announcement at work and I think they are still not ready!!! I think we will find out later on in the week.* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

It's finally happened! After all the waiting and the painful interviews with mortgage advisors, it's mine!! My old account has been paid off but no trace of the mortgage in the new bank yet.
So pleased it's done.
Need to update my YNAB accounts now and my budget.
Have a good evening everyone.* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Congratulations on completing your mortgage. Yay!
Glad you had a lovely date too. You deserve it after the others. I hope your friend does pay you back. Its an awful position to be in.
Anyway celebrate your mortgage and forget the bad stuff for tonight.0
