Catriona's Credit Card Countdown

catriona79 wrote: »Hello hello
Just tried the card checker on your recommendation Ena (thank you!) and it's come up with a couple of strong options - MBNA and Barclaycard at 95 and 90%. The rest are so-so, at 60%, maybe because I've already got those! and maybe because my credit history isn't that great anymore.
So it looks like there are options and maybe there is no need to worry. I was once in a bad situation where I couldn't get another BT but my wonderful ex helped me out, even though we'd broken up by then. Without him, things may have spiralled out.
Not heard at all from the mortgage people and wondering what is going on. Perhaps I should try and get an appointment directly, I'd get a better deal with NWide than the deal I got through the broker. £15 a month better, so not much, but still better. I might see to that tomorrow.
I can feel myself relax a bit more, about money and my worries in general. Which is good.
Glad I could helpAnd there are options which is always a relief. That was nice of your ex
£15 a month is £180 over the year. Not to be sniffed at!All those little bits add up and if you can do it it direct for less it's totally worth it.
Glad you're feeling a bit more relaxed about things. It's all in hand. You've not buried your head in the sand and it will all get paid off. It may not be quick or easy, but you're on the road to debt freedom :T:)Debt Apr 15 - £6895.44Apr 17 - £2500
Dec 17 - £560
July 18 - £199

He was likeable and has FB messaged me since. I am playing it cool, so will take some time to get back to him, but in have to say it's been a while since I've met a man who is so interesting and easy to talk to. Positive.
In other news, another internet date tomorrow.
And my Sunday Internet date cancelled on me on Sun morning! The cheek of himnot feeling bitter, but it looks like there are people out there who are not ready to date. Maybe he's inbetween relationships? Who knows. But it looks like he's after a bit of validation.
His message said that he had to work on a presentationso I wished him good luck with it, and said it was no problem, but in reality am not going to get involved with someone who has unfinished business or is half hearted.
After my last relationship, I need to pay attention to men trying to bust my boundaries.
Man from Saturday is nice though, and has given me a little hope that not all is lost.
Hope you are all plodding along in your lives and enjoying the moment.
I've been listening to Oli Doyle's mindfulness podcasts online as I drive and they help so much. I am slowly getting into the mindful way of reasoning and it helps to deal with my recent breakup and my ex's not too great behaviour. I don't get worked up any more, where before I definitely would have! What advice change.
Also, my eye mask and ear plugs are ace! Though I did wake up at 2 this morn, convinced it was time to get up
Ooh a long hand hold. How very daring of him *said in a 19th century kind of voice* :rotfl:
That's brilliant work CatrionaIt's all looking good on the dating front. Yeah fwiw I think you've got the right attitude with the cancelling date guy. I had a date with a guy once, then he cancelled the 2nd date twice for various reasons but I said it wasn't looking good for the future so I wished him well and that was that. He text me a few weeks after but it wasn't happening for me. I had my friend in my ear going on about that book.....The Rules. Have you heard of it? She had loads of dates, maybe 30 or 40 and mostly they were just one date, she had a few little relationships but nothing serious. Anyway she read this book, followed 'The Rules' and met her now husband.
Haha I love my eye mask. It normally pings off the top of my head in the night but I find that helps when it comes to morning and letting a bit of light in my eyes.Is your mask a fancy one? Mines a cat face :rotfl:

Hey Catriona!
Love reading your posts, I find them motivating as have £12.3k of debt to clear myself. Started at £15.6k at the start of the year so feel like I'm getting their slowly.
Just a quick thing I noticed, the dates above say santander ended may 2015? Could that be why the snowball is telling you to pay it off first as it thinks you are paying full interest on it?
Hope you have a lovely weekend :-)
Hello Cwal, lovely to see you here :j
Hey, you have done well, decreasing your debt by 20% already. What's your plan, pay off as soon as possible?
Aaah I see what you're saying with my typo, I'll have to check!

And I have a day off today too - hope yours goes well and the car is super! Enjoy the first ride. What colour have you picked?
Yeah, I was uncomfortable applying for a mortgage with an APR of 1.99 when another bank can do 1.69, and the total monthly payment is cheaper, even if only by £15. It all adds up, right? Mse comparison tool says its a better deal too. So I will be ringing them and applying through the phone I think.
I've just got my conditional offer through, subject to references, so that's all good!

He he Ena. It was one of those where someone extends their arm, and locks your palm in theirs for three minutes while they keep talking to you. Think this is a technique of his!!!
But we FB messaged a bit last night and he sounds really good, and can spell! Always a bonus. Is interested in art too.
But we shall see.
I'm supposed to be going on a cinema and drink date tonight, but have not heard from the date in two days. So guessing that's not happening! Weird. Maybe things move so fast that these men get snapped up . Or maybe they aren't ready. Equally  he he he!!!!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Hmm. So date did not take place, but this man seems genuine and the way he let me know was better too. Scary, all this dating. I'm going to try and do a bit of mindfulness now and hopefully I'll sleep better than last night!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

How brave you are internet dating. I tried it a couple of times but got put off my some of the messages I was receiving and that was a first hello message.
Things sound like they are moving in the right direction regarding the mortgage. Hope things work out ok

Hey Tink,
How are things with you? How's the grocery challenge coming along? You're a third of the way through the month!
Yes, you're right, you need a bit of courage to internet date. I am going to try and approach it better and spend some time on it this weekend. There have got to be some decent men out there! And free and available. I find that I don't get to meet many men outside of internet dating. I work with lots of females too. I just need to start dating the right kind of man. Need to be more picky about what it is I want and go from there. I will be more methodical now!
Anyway, lovely weekend with my friends tonight at one of my friends' houses, beautiful meal and three other girls to chat to.
But now it's time for bed. Friday tomorrow!!!
How many days till payday?;) only 18! Nearly half way:T
