Woohoooo that's brilliant, such a milestone to get into single figures!:T:j:dance::dance::dance::beer:

Congratulations on payday.........in it comes and whoosh......out it goes :o;) Would be nice to hang on to it for a teensy bit longer eh! One day, we will. :)

Ah you deserve the shoes, and you've been mse about it. You can't be walking round with holey shoes now can ya?! :p

I posted on lcc's diary about delayed gratification. This is on Wikip3dia so it must be true :rotfl:

A growing body of literature has linked the ability to delay gratification to a host of other positive outcomes, including academic success, physical health, psychological health, and social competence.

Aww hun, sorry you're feeling a bit low. Life is hard, especially hard when debt is hanging over us, or at least when the debt is bothering us. Some people live with debt and can't or won't try and get out of it. We're doing something about it, and we're on our own, trying to keep it all together :) Although I'm sure there are some very lonely people in relationships too. We just have to do our best, crack on and hope that we can find our way through it all and become happy. You've got loads of changes happening career wise, you're debt busting, things are looking up. Bound to find happiness :)

I hope you've had a brilliant weekend away, and did indeed make it down to Brighton. Love that place :)

    Hugs x :)
    Debt Apr 15 - £6895.44 :( Apr 17 - £2500 :) Dec 17 - £560 :) July 18 - £199 :D
CHEFS challenge (Cruise Holiday Entirely Funded by Surveys) - £685.79
Every penny is a prisoner :D
  • Thank you Ena! I'm so pleased about the debt being sub-10k. Finally! Debt neutral is a good strategy, so I may aim for that for now.

I went to London and Brighton and had a fab time, so cool!!

Also, been reasonably money saving and also very good with my diet - I lost 0.6kg (that's over a pound) over the weekend. If you think of eating out and it being a bank hol, it was such a cool outcome. Seeing my friend was amazing, and I even treated myself to a really bright red lippy!!

On the way back I listened to more mindfulness podcasts and also my friend has given me Kalms, which has really helped me with the anxiety, and to get some sleep, so I am really pleased! Things are on the up, and it now need to apply myself to some studying in order to be able to get out of the job I don't like much.

So interesting - the stuff about the mind's stories and how to not get entangled in them.

For the first time in a long time I'm actually looking forward to tonight and a good sleep.

This Week is my first four day week - woo hoo!!!

Also, trying to line up more dates, reluctantly ;) think I need to spend time with new people and enjoy getting to know them.

Financial review may have to happen tonight, but only briefly, and then I'll be able to see what is till owe on which card before the mortgage application!

Have a lovely afternoon everyone x

  • Glad you had a good time in London and Brighton Catriona, sounds like it was very MSE as well.

You're doing really well. I've taken a big step backwards as I didn't get any pay for my last month at old job due to days off sick and holidays taken outweighing my pay. It's going to be a tight month. I've just signed up for the September Grocery Challenge and hoping I can keep it under £120 for the month. Here's hoping.

Just wanted to come back to this. I am the queen of delayed gratification.... I think so at least! It's my upbringing and not having much (in the material sense) whilst growing up. But my parents pushed me hard academically, so I always thought: things will get better later on in life.

Here's to things getting better!

Made a plan to spend OH's money :rotfl:. No, seriously I think I will manage. Freezer is full so just need to buy staples really and I have a grocery budget of £120. Had to empty my pots though but they can be re-filled when I start getting paid again. I think I have got enough to cover DD's and petrol so it's just going to be a tight month.
