Santander Cash ISA 2013

Spot on SephirothX. Some years I have enough, some not, and if not then I borrow cheaply at the last minute (breakeven) to fund my ISA because I know that over the following years I'll profit from what's in there.
I've not missed an allowance usage in 10 years now, although I've only had the cash in time for about 6 or 7 of those 10 years0

Depends on the amount you have in there on what it drops to. Got a letter in the post a couple of weeks ago. Either way it doesn't matter.savetilibleed wrote: »Is that a Direct ISA Iss 9? If so the interest drops to 0.5%0

It's hardly throwing away interest if you can get a better net rate in a non-ISA account. If I can get 4%-8% gross on non-ISAs I'm not going to rush into an ISA paying less than 3%.0

Mine is 'Direct ISA Issue 9' and it states it'll be converted into an 'ISA Saver' working under the following rates:savetilibleed wrote: »Ah I see iss 8 is tiered. I still have no letter for my Iss 9 which drops on 24 March (not tiered).
 0.50% for values over £1
 1.50% for values over £10,000
 2.00% for values over £20,0000

These current ISA rates at 2.5% are hopeless and I'd rather put my money in much better return investments. Have opened an account in India offering 9% for a year, will probably stick it all in there.....
Please let us all know in a years time how well this does for you:D

Santander will have 3 options this year
Direct ISA, instant access paying 2.5%
Fixed rate Major 2 years paying 2.8% and extra 0.1% if Rory does the biz again and wins a major
 AND the biggy::::
Have a 123 account and they will pay you 3.0%, same as the above Fixed Rate Major.0

Assuming this is true: the difference is just under £24 for £5760 over 2 years.
The 123 account will cost £48 over 2 years. If the 123 is not right for you then it won't make sense to open one to get this rate, unless they allow transfer of at least the previous 2 years ISAs. If it is then you should have opened one a long time ago.
I may have to open one anyway as the rates on the 123 itself may be the best I can get in a few months time. But I have no direct debits that would get cashback (talktalk and ebico don't, and council tax is paid by 0% reward credit card)0

The 123 can, if properly done, get you £55 from Quidco to start with.
If you have utility, phone or council tax bills, so even if you have no qualifying DDs, you have 2 years of "free" use of the 123.0

I personally cannot see anything beating 3.7% so will end up paying into my existing LTSB ISA. But hold out hope for may be a Flexclusive from Nationwide, if they do 4% may be worth taking.
Either way I think for the rates at the moment I'd be better off outside the ISA FD 8% Nationwide Reg Saver 6% and Nationwide Flex Direct 5%, so may leave it for a while rather than moving money in on the 6th April.0
