Antivirus software is only one aspect of secure computing - Common sense is always touted as another.
If you feel what you have to go through to enter some competitions leaves you at risk of infection (visiting unfamiliar sites, clicking unknown links etc), quite simply trust your common sense and don't enter those competitions. Don't have a blase attitude thinking "this may turn out to be dodgy, but my AV should protect me", because there will be times when it wont - and that goes for any AV.
I do use my common sense but even the most trusted of comp sites sometimes has issues.0 -
I am having trouble uninstalling Norton, not sure if its uninstalled.... windows firewall won't turn on, tried running Norton uninstall tool, but it seemed to stall as did when I uninstalled Norton from programs.Tried to find Norton via run command it's doesn't seem to be there. any help please.0

That's the one I did it won't even open now, restarted laptop twice now.0

Windows Defender is on now though, I can't understand if Norton has gone then. Never again will I buy this rubbish.0

Is your Windows 8 installation up to date?
Do you get the same problem downloading and installing other programmes say Ccleaner.
The other thing you could try is Norton Power Eraser, assuming you can run it.
