I would say the problem is if you make a good point against what some believe and they see its actually water tight they will then proceed down the line of character assassination to try and discredit the poster as they can't discredit the point actually made.
I've found this, or worse you suddenly find yourself beset on all sides by people who had no involvement in the original discussion and just rock up to troll. Some of these 'people' are only ever used for this purpose and are never normally seen on the board. Seems a little sad if individuals are so poor at debating that they need to back themselves up with additional logons, or indeed if they are so cowardly that they can't say something with their original logon and need a sockpuppet to say it for them.0 -
