Is it easier for migrants to find jobs?

MIgrants are migrants, they are here for work only and that is the reason they are more polite, honest and disciplined than UK ones.

Take a look at parts of the country where English people will not work. Boston for example, they dont call it Little Poland for nothing. Many jobs have been taken by people from other countries simply because UK residents will not work. Boston has a large population of farm workers and these are proberly 90% men and women from Eastern countries that have come over to take jobs that UK residents do not want to do. I would imagine that the vegetable picking jobs are minimum wage, plus its damn cold out there on a winters morning. What would you rather do pick veg for a few quid a hour in the wind rain snow and hail or sit at home watching Jeremy Kyle? These workers are genuine hard working people also and dont give a monkies about the weather.
So to answer your question, I would have to say YES (but only in certain parts of the UK)MoneySpendingExpert0 -

No, no, no, those arent immigrants, they're "ex-pats"
As to the OP's original question, it depends on what the grade of the work is. If you are talking NMW type work then it may well be easier for immigrants to get jobs because British people have a bad reputation when it comes to work ethic. Plus there is the simple factor of numbers, when recruiting for an entry level position in a coffee shop there were probably 10-15 applications from highly educated, well experienced "foreigners" for every 1 "British" applicant and on average that British person may have a couple of GCSEs rather than a BSc
Once you get out of NMW jobs then things change a little, arguably language skills become more important, people's prejudices come out a bit more etc.0 -

no you wouldn't be you wouldn't be able to manage your bills if you did this by yourself. It would not work. Plus, getting up at 4am every morning day in day out even on those -10 mornings, getting £6-19 per hour. nah, you wouldntAll the big powers they've silenced me. Every week there were tranny vans overloaded with lads leaving to find work on building site in Germany or Disneyland Paris, this generation is too lazy/pampered to try anything like that now.
That is true, I had lots of friends who went to france grape picking all summer, free lodgings and food and just a very basic wage but as much free wine as they could drink, those where the days, being 18 all over againAll the big powers they've silenced me. To be honest, the CH4 progamme, A Day in the Life of a Chicken shop, was quite telling. The manager stated that he had never received a CV from a British national but had received plenty from immigrants. Moreover, one of the staff (who worked through the night for £6.90 an hour) had do an hour and a half commute. He was happy to have a job and be self supporting.
All of the staff were unfailingly polite and cheerful; even when they were being abused by drunken louts.
Given the amount of whinging on here, I doubt very much that a British national would do the same. They'd rather claim benefits.0 -

Quite right.
Heres an example, just took my grand son to the fun house, sat next to some people who were talking about jobs etc. one lass said her bf didnt want a job because they would be £40 worse off per week if he took a job. I would be worse off if I didn't pull in at least £300 per week not because I have benefits as I work, I have a mortgage to pay and have the threat of house being repossessed by the lender if I cant afford to keep up repayments on it.
Those saying migrant workers are harder working are probably right in the main but my experience is that they are just as lazy as anyone else in the workplace. For centuries there has been migration whether forced or voluntary and I can't see why there is a problem with it, they pay the same rate tax and national insurance as everyone else, so fair play to them, what I find objectionable is someone who has never contributed but continue to take from the system.0 -
No the reason the country is in a state is that theres very little work about and the majority of whats out there pays NMW and isnt even full time. What good is a part time NMW job to someone who wants to support themselves?
Also the job situation is horrendous despite what the BBC say. A family member works for Wilkinsons and they have just advertised 3 part time jobs and there were over 300 applicants.
Also it was on the news last night about Costa coffee, there were a handfull of jobs going and 1700 people applied.0 -

The Labour Gov made it a good life for some on the dole - better off than on NMWWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
