I don't know anyone with a privately rented house who doesn't have to top up - and that's in one of the poorest areas in the country.
I just done a search to check this out as it's a while since I privately rented. This area, LHA is £425 pcm. There are at least 10 flats to rent for under £400 pcm. Some of them starting at £300pcm. 2 bedroom rates, I didn't look at others
So it is doable in private renting.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Perhaps that explains why council rents in your area have no waiting list too, it does highlight basic economic principle of supply and demand. In my area I did a search and there were 9, but 8 required minimum salary of £11,000 PA and or professionals only.
It's good news that those affected by the cuts in your area have choices to move.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

Not really, as there aren't any one bedroom properties. Even less when it comes to one bedroom properties that are suitable for disabled people
The dd's flat as I've said before is a 2 bedroom adapted. When they built it, they decided on 2 bedrooms to give people who needed a carer a small room. It's basically big enough for a single bed and nothing else.
And we do have waiting lists. Just not for certain properties

I wasn't referring to your personal situation more generally.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0

just did a search on my local areas private lets.
6 two beds and 1 one bed.
5 of the 6 two beds were under the LHA rate for a 2 bed.
the one bed was £30 a week over the 1 bed LHA rate
the one bed was lovely though, whereas the 2 beds were all not very nice0 -

I don't need a one bedroom....
However there are loads of couples and singles in two bedroom properties who can't downsize because there aren't 1 bedroom properties available. In fact there are very few 1 bedroom properties full stop.
As I've said on many occasion, the bedroom tax doesn't affect me as I downsized after the dd moved out. Does it need to affect me for me to argue against it or see that it's wrong for so many people?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
If housing is generous in your area, with no waiting lists for 1 bed properties as you stated your child had a property no one wanted, then 1 beds are fruitful. If your child waited very short time for a 2 bed adapted property then clearly they are fruitful. There are plentiful 2 bedrooms very under the private rate then they are fruitful.
Do you think those in London share this experience. It is only wrong when you are affected and the fact that you have blatently chose to ignore the fact that a tenant in a 3 bed needs to move and repeat again your own familiies situation shows that you only really argue against what affects you and your own.
Have you been into a major city recently and seen the housing stock situation as I suspect not.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -
her daughter has an adapeted 2 bed.
the national shortage is of 1 bedroomed properties... thats why so many single people have 2 bed social housing
its about a 3 month wait in my area for a house.
there is so much social housing that people actually turn properties down until they get exactly what they want and where they want it.
the only problem is that ot os all 2 and 3 bedroomed0
