He came back with the tyre pressure guage/inflater and checked. They were fine - and as an ex-workshop foreman, I saw that for myself.

This makes no sense.... Why didn't you check them for yourself?

being a motability customer does that mean that the council pays for your tyres? probably explains their service - cos they're probably charging the public purse double what they would normally charge the public. So yeah - expect great service when they're being paid over the odds.

Let me join in as well (no, I don't work for them either...).

Last two MOTs done with them, not 1p charged extra and no unnecessary work identified.

Ah, and was cheapest my a mile (minor service and MOT for £85 ish). Will use again.

just think about it, any garage can do that because the mot is the inspection part & they can just then do a oil change & job done in about 45 mins.

also what parts did they use on your vehicle cheap aftermarket products, or even use the recommended oil, if your car for example needs 5w-40 fully synthetic oil did they just bung in 10w-40 semi.

if its cheap there is usually a reason for it

They are ok if you know what you are doing and keep your wits about you. I sent my daughter down there for a tyre for her old punto as they were cheapest. They managed to persuade her to have all four wheels balanced and all tyres refilled with nitrogen. So ended up very expensive.

The funny thing is I blame myself for not telling her to be specific enough. It's like I expected to be fleeced.

I went to my local kwikfit and he started talking in Chinese about how I'd be amazed at what they do. Hang on, that was an advert.

Agree with the above. Why take your car to a garage to check tyre pressure. Oh yeah, maybe because Motability cars are tied into a contract with Kwik Fit so the monkeys try a bit harder with these cars.

People who actually pay for things on the other hand.....

Do you know that this is the case?

Usually fleet companies get better prices than those available to the public, not the other way round.

Ususally.. not in the case when it comes to public sector... public sector don't know how to negotiate and they get ripped off by contractor firms.

The government pays Disability Living Allowance, not the council. People who receive the higher rate DLA "for help with getting around" of £54.10 per week can choose to have a car instead of the money. If a motability car requires 20 tyres replacing during the three year contract it doesn't cost the government or the taxpayer a penny.

Motability Finance Limited is a lease company and you can bet your bottom dollar they've negotiated hard for a good deal with Kwik Fit.

How do you work that one out, the only thing a mobility customer pays for os fuel, they will have averaged that in the 3 years most cars will probably need one complete tyre change if it was 20 it would be costing somone money.
