Bouquet for KwikFit
Options
Hello all those KwikFit critics, this is the other side of the coin.
3 weeks ago, I had 2 front tyres fitted by our local mobile KF guy, from Grimsby. He fitted them in the dark, outside my house, I gave him the locking wheelnut key and he carried out the work in about 25 minutes, using the floodlamps from his van. Courteous and efficient, no problems afterwards. Advised me that the nearside rear would need another new tyre in about a month.
Yesterday, the same guy fitted the nearside rear tyre, this time in the daylight. Same courtesy, same efficiency, done in about 15 minutes. Would not even have a cuppa.
This morning I set off to shop and the erroneous computer in my Focus infomed me that I should check tyre pressures. As I was actually going to Grimsby, I called at the KF workshop. As I walked out of the office, the same Mobile fitter drove in and I told him about it. He came back with the tyre pressure guage/inflater and checked. They were fine - and as an ex-workshop foreman, I saw that for myself. However, at least I made sure of that.
I only post this as an antidote to all the bad press that KF gets here. I have no connection with the company, but as a Motability customer since 1995, I have had more tyres fitted by them than I care to remember, and also had Steering Alignment (Tracking) carried out on 4 occasions on different cars.
Problem is, only the complaints usually get the limelight. For me, they have always carried out the work properly.

I think this job really needs

Its nice to see good service as one would expect. People who in my view are in the public eye should always remember treat people how you want to be treated that's why I have no trouble like your good self0

I'll join in.
I had my MOT done by some random garage, and they said the brake pads needed changing on the front, if i changed them they will pass the MOT. so after changing them, and driving around for a week or so, i started hearing a weird scraping sound every time i used the brakes.
looked at the brakes through the alloy wheels and noticed that the brakes were squint and rubbing against the alloys, so immediately i took it to Kwick Fit, they took the wheel off and told me that one of the nuts was missing, and the other was loose!!!
They tightened the loose nut and fitted the other all free of charge!!! they said the garage that fitted the brakes were careless in not tightening the nuts and that the brakes could have failed.
I also have no connection with Kwick Fit but was impressed with their service (on this occasion)...0 -
Let me join in as well (no, I don't work for them either...).
Last two MOTs done with them, not 1p charged extra and no unnecessary work identified.
Ah, and was cheapest my a mile (minor service and MOT for £85 ish). Will use again.0 -
Although a little different I thought I'd chip in too.
People automatically think the mechanics at kf are less then adequate.
A friend of mine is a mechanic and mot tester at kf. He will not cut corners, do bodge jobs nor will he charge for anything more than what is required.
He is also one of the most efficient/fastest mechanics I have ever seen (and that's doing the job correctly too).
Not all Kf mechanics are monkeys.0 -
I've only ever had excellent service from Kwikfit as well. My last three MOTs have been done there and each time the car passed with no extra work required.
I find the booking form on their website on which you can choose your day and timeslot to be extremely useful and you can't argue with 30 quid for an MOT. Last time I had the car booked in I got the time wrong and turned up an hour late but they still did it for me.0 -
Wow, a company doing what they are supposed to do. Woopeedooo.0

I think it's fair to say there's a notable consistency with Kwik-fit complaints namely attempting to sell items the car clearly doesn't need and not doing the job correctly. The first and last time I used Kwik-fit they tried to get me to buy new tyres and new front brake discs despite both being less than six months old claiming I'd been unlucky as there was uneven tyre wear and the discs had warped. It got a bit heated but eventually they did the work they were supposed to but found they hadn't done it properly and took it to another Kwik-fit garage to fix the issue. They claimed they couldn't see anything wrong yet coincidentally the fault was gone afterwards.

You popped into the Kwik Fit "workshop" becasue your car's computer said to check tyre pressures?
You should be checking them regularly anyway.0
