Hiya, I've kindly been pointed in this direction by TNG so just wanted to say hi, I've beento see the stop smoking lady today and got my first box of step 1 patches and an inhalator. I wanted Zyban but she wants me to try this way first so giving it my best shot. Planned quit date is Thursday but I'm so sick of it I might stop tomorrow instead......start as you mean to go on. Anyway that's me, any advice or tips will be really appreciated. Thanks!Smokefree since 27-9-20070

Hi laura
Glad you could make it. If you get some time, read this thread, its full of tips
Best of luck:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hi Laura and welcome to the thread
Well done on deciding to quit :T you sound as though you are determined which is a great start!
Take a look at the first post on this thread, there are tons of links to get you started. People have sworn by downloading the SilkQuit meter which is one of the links on there. Everytime you turn your pc on it will tell you how many cigs you haven't smoked, how much money you've saved etc. etc.
There is also a list of reasons that people have found a good incentive to stop, if you think of any more feel free to let me know and I'll add it to the first post.
Definately take a look at the Max Kirsten video (link in the first post), but not whilst eating
Good luck Laura, keep us all updated with your progress - we are here every step of the way

Awwww I hope your DS2 is okay at the dentist (shudder), DD1 just rung me and asked me to book her an optician appointment cos apparently she can't see today, sounds serious!
Oh my, you've just reminded me, Mr Jo asked me to book him a dentist appointment this arvo and I forgot, ta for thatDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Sorry guys for deserting you, I have been on a rocky road to the big quit - in short for those of you who don't remember I went about 3 months and then basically became complacent and became a 'weekend smoker'. Anyway I started again yesterday and all is going well, but I will need all your support.
I am doing it with the help of patches, otherwise I will be pulling my hair out!! The only thing I am worried about is being around other smokers (most of my family and friends) any suggestions? I know I can do it as I did it before and they were all really proud of me, but I have a lunch and shopping date tomorrow and I don't want to give in.
Anyway I feel good to be back :beer:Official DFW Nerd Club - member no: 538

Hey Costa, so glad to have ya back
Shows you how much we really don't want to smoke doesn't it, there are quite a few 'old' faces that were on the start of this thread that fell off the wagon and ended up coming back again! If we really wanted to smoke we wouldn't all keep trying to stop!
I think you sound fairly determined to me, plus with the support you'll get here you've just got to go to lunch and shopping tomorrow and think okay it doesn't feel that great at the moment (no point in beating around the bush cos it won't will it?!) but think how fantastic you'll feel when you get home smoke free! Every day make a mental note of how far you've come and how many cravings you've conquered. You will win the fight:D
God that was patronizing, ah well, pleased to have you back on board
Go back to post 1 and read the tips again
