O/S Daily Tuesday 19 February 2013

O/S Tuesday 19 February 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as wel

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Jackie - hope everything went well yesterday and your friend finds her daughter on the road to recovery x

Dry, very frosty and misty start to the day here but no wind or rain!

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Work wasn't a manic Monday - was actually quite quiet for a Monday but Friday had been very busy - so there's no telling what today will bring!

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, veg and gravy - the sausages were the first part of the £20 meat deal I bought from the butcher at the farm shop - they were delicious and much tastier than any sausages I've bought in the SM - so feel justified in not buying from the SM. Pork chops are on the menu plan for tonight - but forgot to get them out to defrost and also it will be another night of meat, mash and veg type meals - so am thinking of possibly doing a pasta dish - I have pasta, some LO double cream that needs using up, some smoked sausages, mushrooms, cheese, garlic - if I have some passata I'll make pasta with s/sausages in a creamy tomato sauce with grated cheese, just be nice to have something different and the cream and s/sausage will get thrown away if I don't use them up. I really want to stay out of the SM until Friday as the food budget is already blown and I'm trying to do a damage limitation exercise as best I can at the moment!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all:j:j

    Cold and frosty here.

Today my Wife's at work. the twins are off to my Mum's and Dad's for the day.
I'm off over to my wife's Nan's house. She has a couple of little Jobs that's she needs doing. She Still dose good for her age. She still get's out and about but there are more and more of the little Jobs she can no longer do.
One of the Job's she wont's me to do is a simple one that should help her. She need's some things moved from one cub rd to another lower one. She will then be able to get and use the stuff.

Dinner tonight will be streak and chips.

I'm going to a local council forum this evening. We are having a "bid debate" In our local area about council funding. The council are putting it to a public vote in may this year. They wont to be the council tax up. But if they don't then they will have to cut spending even more than they have. this will hurt locally,
So there is a lesser of two evils. Pay more or get less Not much of a vote ?
Anyway. They are trying to "sell" There idea. as well as talk to the local people to find out if there are thing's that they would not mind being cut back. Or things that they really wont more money to be spent on.

Its the first time iv been to anything like this. So i'm not sure what it will be like.
Anyway I'm looking forward to it in a way.

Well I hope that you all have a great day

    Enjoy :j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

I will take the dog out for a long walk. I may even get on with my crochet. Have a bit of a lazy day.

    Morning All!

emfc73 I already have two decks outside, so I know they can be slippy!:rotfl: I do take care when out there, but it was safer than concrete! Thanks for your concern though!:T

The builders finished at 3.30, so it's all done now. Put solar fairy lights round the others two decks, they looked lovely last night, let's hope Spring is on it's way:T

Going to town later to meet DD. need a few bits.

Then a bit more tidying of the garden. Nearly done it all now.
I have decided to buy silk hanging baskets for outside the kitchen, then I won't have to climb ladders to water them!:rotfl:
Had blueberry pancakes for breakfast, non-fasting day today. I have lost another 1lb and now weigh 11 stone 5lb.

(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) to Molly, Jools and anyone else who needs one.

  • Good Morning everyone , well an eventful day yesterday I picked my friend up at 5.00.a.m. and took her to Heathrow so she could get her flight and as far as I know all is going ok.then turned round and drove back to where I live in Kent and made two big flasks of coffee and went to Dds and picked up her and the boys and drove to Windsor for the day We had a great time there and saw the state apartments and the boys really were getting interested in Gran's hobby of history (especially the gory bits about Henry 8th and his exploding body :):)got back to Kent around 6 and Dd did me some dinner then I came home and showered and went to bed and slept loike a log around 300 miles plus driveing yesterday plus lots of strolling around the castle. But a great day out and we all had a nice time and the weather wasn't too bad.M25 was a bit of a nightmare with all the road works but hey ho its part of life I guess.I am having a quiet day today just pottering around and not doing a great deal at all.DD made some biscuits which she called 355 and I want to get the recipe they were delicious and quite cheap and easy to make
hope everyone had a good day and the half term is going well for you all
    Cheers JackieO xxx

Morning all, really cold here today with a heavy frost. I cleared a load of brambles from the edges of the garden yesterday so need to take them to the dump. Although it's dry today it's too cold for me to want to garden so will go back to the 'room of doom' to get more stuff cleared. Then this afternoon son has an appointment I need to be at with him.
Have a phone call to make this evening that I am nervous about. I need to talk to my ex about not telling son too early about visiting him as it raises son's anxiety and causes incidents. In the past ex has asked me not to contact him anout problems with son, so I emailed his wife (who I have a good relationship with) and she said talk to ex. That he was open to it. Well we will see. I will try and if he gets hissy I will just terminate call and get manager of service supporting son to do it.
My arms are covered in scratches from the brambles yesterday and my little finger has gone red and purple and swollen! Maybe a thorn is stuck in there........will have a proper look later.
Lunch is HM soup and dinner stir fry and might do some baking if time and energy allows.
Good wishes and hugs to all struggling for any reason.

    Morning everyone.

Wow, JackieO that sounds as if you had a very busy day yesterday, although fun to go to Windsor. I've never been there, I really must, as I enjoy history as well. My interest started at school - we did the period 1216 to 1603' a very gory time, which appealed to all us teenagers. I've had an interest ever since. I've been very interested in the recent discovery of Richard III's body.

In a while I'm going out to recycle some ink cartridges at a local second hand bookshop. The cartridges are sold to raise funds for the church in town, so it's a good cause. Will also have a quick look in a couple of charity shops.

Then, when I gt home, I've got a drawer stuffed with paperwork to declutter, and I want to get a letter typed about a financial matter, that I've been puttting off for ages.

Dinner will be sausage casserole from the freezer, with jacket potatoes.

    Have a good day.

    Hi all,

Hugs for all that need them x

Having a baking day today, will make scones, ginger cake and some biscuits, havn,t decided which yet.

Pasta bake for dinner at request of DS2, also baking a gammon joint for dinner tomorrow night.

Bright and cold this morning, great to see the sun, makes you feel happier just to see it.

Have ordered a load of plug plants for borders and some veg seeds, will hopefully grow this year, last year was a washout, only the leeks and rubarb survived.. Even the apple tree didn,t produce anything, covered in blossom yearly then the rain started and washed it all off, I guess they didn,t get a chance to be pollenated.

Have a fab day all x
