    Norabatty - sorry to take so long to get back with flapjack - been hectic

    I use tate and lyle recipe - but play with it, add what you fancy, i,ve used coconut or dried fruit, nuts, choc bits, whatever your family enjoys, about a 100g of additions works for me, and use cheapest oats and cheapest 'hard' marg - this makes about 12, but doubles or more easily - use baking parchment or greaseproof to line your tin and one great tip, use a pizza cutter to cut up - enjoy x

    Ingredients

    * 150g butter
    * 75g soft sugar
    * 3 rounded tbsp Golden Syrup
    * 250g rolled oats (porridge oats)

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160Cfan/ gas 4. Grease and line a shallow 20cm square tin with baking parchment.
    2. Put the butter, sugar and Golden Syrup into a medium pan and gently heat until melted. Stir in the oats. Turn into the tin, level and press the mixture evenly and firmly with the back of a spoon. Bake for 25 minutes, or until just golden around the edges.
    3. Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes then mark into 12 or 16 pieces whilst still warm. Cool completely before turning out onto a board and cutting again with a sharp knife.
    Tip: Flapjacks will keep up to a week in an airtight container.

    PS - NSD today :)

    Thanks for the recipe Islandmaid, I have all ingrediants so will give it ago later.

    NSD yesterday:jwhich makes a change, as my spending is creeping up far too quickly:eek:.

    I made a veg curry with a couple of the 20p curry sauce jars I got from MrT last week, along with some veg that was on its last legs. The jars are the value ones if anybody is wondering and these are usually 26p (I think), but last week they were down to 20p, so of course I had to relief the shelf of 5 of these:D.

    Went to Mr M last night and spent 83p on value cocoa pops for OH and 42p on value food bags.

    Mr A replied to my complaint email and not only refunded the spoiled passata and food bags but also the cleaner that leaked (I hadn't asked for a refund for this as most of it is still in the bottle) and also gave me £5 credit which I will use to cover the delivery cost next time I get an order :)

    Made herby veggie and cheese pasties for dinner last night and they were very tasty, had with beans perked up with paprika and oregano on the side and OH had value oven chips too.

    Meet your mate CupOfChai, i have a compulsion to go in even if it's to buy one thing for 50p. So i must also try to have some NSD before Tuesday. As it happened i've spent £7.84 on a colander, and two oven trays all with YS in Co-op; but only £0.71p on groceries (bananas), so that's all i need to declare.
