Oh dear. First weeks budget blown - thanks to DD2's 16th birthday and a gang of her mates stayong for a sleepover and eating me out of house and home! They all stayed till Sunday evening so had to rustle up dinner for them so that was a chicken gone that was planned for the week!
So €156.72/560. Will have to go easy for the rest of the month!0 -
Afternoon all, I have spent £10.44 today on groceries, (that's with £10 off from Nectar points which I have been boosting with Adpoints/Nectar search covering some) visiting 4 different shops -- Aldi, Poundland, my local Nisa and Sainsbury's. I popped in around dropping my kids off at school and going/coming home from work so I didn't rack up extra petrol costs in the process!
My girls' favourite biscuits Maryland cookies/Oreos were on offer -- better than half price for the Maryland and additional 100 per cent free at Nisa, I bought foil and more biscuits at the £1 shop, then milk, bread, fruit and veg (including carrots and cabbage, both 49p) at Aldi -- homemade coleslaw here we comeAm trying bread that's 55p a loaf for the first time.
At Sainsbury's I used £10 off my nectar points and a massive 8p Brand Match coupon on £8 worth of food shopping and a present for my mum. Stocked up a bit on tinned fruit to go with a big tub of Aldi ice cream I forgot we had, plus 3 no added sugar Angel Delight for £1, potatoes at £1.19 for 2.5kg were cheaper in Sainsbury's, with 49p for 15 Aldi Yorkshires, and a joint of beef bought from a gift of Waitrose vouchers, this will be the cheapest Mother's Day meal ever,0 -
Hi everyone,
Many thanks for all your suggestions re the cereal bars. I really appreciate you all taking the time to respond.
Good to know and there's one near me so I'll check it out. Thanks medsdemon!
Thanks MrsCautious, never bought Medleys before because I thought they were biscuits!!??:o Will have to take a second look!
They sound lovely Islandmaid - do you have a recipe??:D
Oh no, I think you may be right, but in my (very overweight and I wonder why!) opinion they are very closeThey are next to Nature Valley in my nearest Sainsbury... Definitely spotted Nature Valley and Cadbury brunch bars in Poundland today.

Hi all
Thank you all so much for the good wishesi had a little boy named Oliver!
Back on the grocery challenge now although finding time to catch up on the thread is a little harder nowadays.
Had a couple of NSD so far this month, which i will add to the total and i've done my weekly shop at Mr Ms this week totalling £57.55 after using my £10 off voucher and i had a couple of different baby product vouchers. Hopefully will have a couple more NSDs this week and probably only do a small top-up shop for milk/bread etc.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Can't remember if I said before, but congrats Suze, what a lovely name as well
No spend day yesterday. Had HM salmon fishcakes from the freezer with a MASSIVE salad, some leftover HM coleslaw and some HM bread and butter. OH had a HM burger with chips and coleslaw and a very little bit of salad because he isn't as healthy as me :rotfl:
Have to pick up some value cocoa pops from Mr M on the way home, and some value food bags - the ones we got from Mr A, along with the two tubs of passata, were completely soaked through with a cleaning product that had leaked in the bag (as in totally unusable, I did try to wash them) - emailed them for a refund so just waiting on a response. I thought they were supposed to pack the cleaning producst seperately?!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

4 NSD so far this month.
DH is having the last of the prawns tonight and I have pulled out a bag of chicken thighs which badly needed using up. We were having prawn/chicken curry but now we are having the prawns/chicken in pitta breads with some salad and sweet chilli dipping sauce.
Desperate for fruit AGAIN but leaving it till tomorrow will just nip in Morri$ons. There is always tinned fruit to eat if we want and have loads of that in - pineapple, mandarin oranges, peaches, strawberries, pears, fruit salad etc.
Hope all those who have been ill are on the mend now and lets hope that the weather is on the turn. Its lovely here today now but was -2 when out this morning.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Well, i am back to declare and total spend of £59.38 over the weekend. Isn't it easy to spend money without realising it.:o Anyway, now only have £140.62 to last me until 28th March - approx £46.00 a week so must concentrate harder.
Calling at T***** later for some Kale & Lettuce for my rabbit - my challenge is to get out of there before i spend extra.
Will update my signature later.

I reorganised my fridge on Sunday and had to throw some bits away that didnt get eaten due to us having colds. I am determined to use everything that is left by the weekend. This will help my budget as I have not much left especially since DH wanted a takeaway last night after a bad day at work:(
I have cooked a big ham joint in the slow cooker today which has been sitting in the fridge for 2 weeks:o We we will be having it with new pots and veg tonight (from the fridge stock), with jackets (fridge stock) and beans for lunch tomorrow and in a SW cheesy pasta bake recipe (veg in it and salad from the fridge stock) out of their latest mag tomorrow night. If there is anything left it will go into a frittata for lunches using up any last bits of veg and salad stuff from the fridge.
I have a bag of diced carrot and swede that is about to go out of date. Do you think I could freeze it as it is or will I need to cook it first?
I will have to pop to Mr S for bananas tonight as we have them every day and DH had the last one this morning:eek:
I have meal planned (well, shifted this weeks plan to next week really) and made a shopping list for Friday. It is small and I am going to really try and keep the cost down this week.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
