I need to add another about £6 to my total (I'll figure it out properly later when I have my receipts to hand), but that'll be all for this month. So, not very much over budget!

Went to Tesco this evening for reduced bits, didn't really need to, but since they're not open tomorrow, I knew tonight would be the perfect time to go. Spent £4.55 on £41.43 worth of food :j

Best time to get there for is around 6:30-7pm. Usually have to be prepared to stay there for at least an hour as they often do the different sections at different times, and sometimes not until closer to 8pm. But I like to be there from about 6:30 so I don't miss it because sometimes they do it early!
  • £27.14 spent in a couple of top-up shops to use up some vouchers, carrying over £5.24 into April as its on toiletries which we won't touch for at least a couple of weeks so just squeaking in under budget in March - no reducing it for next month! NSD tomorrow and then big shop on Monday from April challenge.

One more day to go, and I may need to get some eggs from the local shop. I may be able to get around the issue by making something else for lunch (it's normally a bacon & egg sandwich for Mr KB on a weekend) but I'm having difficulty in coming up with a suitable alternative. That should be all we need though. My cupboards are looking really bare so I hope we can make it to the big shop on Tuesday!

Chicken and bacon pie tonight with mash, chips or roasties, depending on what Mr KB fancies.

    Have a lovely day.

    KB xx

Boo - well over budget

So - I need to make more lists, and do meal plans.

I will be trying to eat out of store cupboard and freezer for next month, to try and recoup from this month. Only buying fresh fruit and veg.

    Happy Easter everyone :EasterBun
  • Hello all

Declaring at £341 for this month, rounded up a bit as can't find a couple of receipts for exact amounts but should be about right.

Moving to reduced budget for April which should be OK as long as DH stops buying quite so many 'treats'!

Hope you are all OK, off for some catch up reading through now as haven't had much time this week.

  • Just popped back as March seems to have been a good month for lots of us, even if some are a little over I'm sure it's much less than it would have been if we weren't doing the GC.

I'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone for sharing the ups and downs and a feeling of belonging.

I know that taking part in the GC has made me focus much more on using what we already have and trying hard to only buy what we need.

There is definitely less waste from this household now and spending is already drastically lower than previously.

I still have to get to grips with proper meal planning but I do at least think about meals in advance and have a good idea when I'm working on the shopping list (which is no longer a vague scribble thanks to using mysupermarket!), and that is a huge improvement on before. Also now I know what's in the cupboards and freezers which I didn't before!

Thank you everyone, see you on April's GC.
