You are of course liable for the disconnection charge levied by BT Openreach, usually around £30, this would normally be picked up by TT via your MAC.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I didn't need to get a MAC code as TalkTalk handled it all.

That was your first mistake trusting TalkTalk to handle it all, without providing a MAC you will be liable for a disconnection charge.

Best of luck with TalkTalk you will need it when things go wrong.

I spoke to PlusNet about that before the change and they said there wouldn't be a disconnection charge so here's hoping.

Why is it I always get the feeling all of these providers are trying to trick you into making a slip-up that they can then profit from it?

But I paid for the month from 15th January to 14th February so they have been paid for a month after I informed them.

Anyway, as I'm not in a contract with them I am not under any contractual obligation to provide notice am I?

Yes, you are. You were in a contract with them until you gave and served 30 days notice. What ended in October 2012 was your minimum term. The contract continues after that as normal until you give notice. No contract means no service.
As above, if you don't obtain and use a MAC then a £30 cease charge is normally applied under the T&C's. This is not a disconnection charge from Plusnet, it's levied by BT OR on the provider when you migrate without a MAC, and they pass it on.
Never trust any incoming provider who says 'don't worry, we will deal with the outgoing supplier for you'-they never do!
However I cannot see how they get to £111. Assuming £30 was the cease charge, that's £81. Ask the for a breakdown of this charge. What was your normal monthly payment?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Ah, thanks for clarifying that. I've written to them now so I'll see what they have to say.

Well, it appears I was right and wasn't in any form of contract after the minimum term.

I just had a phone call from a very pleasant chap from PlusNet who explained it was a mistake and the Administration Charge shouldn't have been levied.

It did require 30 day notice but since I had informed them on the day that the monthly payment was taken for the following month, that stood as notice and I could leave at any time during that month without incurring any additional charges.

Finally, TalkTalk did sort the switchover with PlusNet without me having to get a Mac code so no charge there either.

Full credit to PlusNet for holding their hands up. :T

Glad you got it sorted, but you were still in a contract after the end of your minimum term, and always will be. As you'd paid for the next month, that served as 30 days notice.
