Good recent story from a reliable source re how the DVLA misleads people about the checks they do:

LInk doesnt seem to work, is there arnother reference to this story?

    Oops, sorry, here you go:

As posted on this interesting thread the other day about the BPA ducking out of speaking to knowledgeable consumers about the private parking 'industry':

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4452411

To their credit, the DVLA are happy to have a real dialogue going with Martin Cutts & Nev Metson it seems - but not the BPA members' club made up of clearly biased PPC owners like Perky, Simon Horsey-Renshaw-Considerablyricherthanyou-Smith and all.

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • My son had a Parking Charge Notice (Invoice) from these people last May. Both machines were broken & attendant told him to leave a note on his dash & it would be OK which it was. Same again next day but no attendant present (van was there). He left same note on his dash & added his place of work which is about 50 yards away from car park stating that if machines fixed he would pay. "Ticket" issued later.

We were all for paying it until we looked on this forum. We then ignored it. 2 letters from Roxburghe Debt Collectors & 2 from Graham White Solicitors (next desk, same office) received. Nothing else since last August.

    Many thanks forum members.

    That's really re-assuring. Thank you. :)
  • It would be very innteresting to know just how much money this and other forums are costing the ppc's, no wonder they don't like us.

I was once told, when young, that if you placed one grain of wheat on a chess board square then twice that on the next and so on to the 64th square the number would surpass all the grains of wheat ever grown in history. Not too sure thats right but the number is astronomical! Well, if every one told 2 people and those 2 told 2 people each and they all took note I think that would seriously dent the ppc's scam profits. ;)

Ive got a feeling its not a huge amount.
bad reporting in the press ( such as the this is cornwall article) doesnt exactly help.

Also have you tried taking the last PPC set of letters you had to the pub to see what they think?

Last week I parked at the Custrad Factory (Birminghma) and I paid for a ticket in full for 12 hours at 10.39am. It's was blustery and when I laid the ticket on the dashboard it flipped and was upside down. I did not notice. at 11.11am I got a ticket for £90.00

Unfortunately I'd not read these posts. I wrote a letter of appeal within 24 hours whichincluded my full address and by implication confirmed I was the driver. The appeal has been denied and I ambeing asked to pay £60 within 14 days or £90 after that. If I appeal to a body called POPLA – iI lose the offer of a 'reduced' fine. I suspect POPLA may be linked to Elite.

I think it’s deeply unfair that I can prove I paid in full and they are denying the appeal and the fine seems outrageously high.

Please can someone help answer 3 questions:

    (1) what do I do – pay or ignore?

    (2) If I don’t pay wand they send round debt collectors willthis impact my credit rating and can the DC’s enter my home and seize property?

    (3) Elite will not consider any further correspondence, isthere any other route of appeal?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
