Bedroom Tax and kids living away??

Flexibilty to transfer tax allowances between couples was removed and I think that was also a very big mistake. Because the current system does not still take account of overall household income. If you don't work then you can't use your tax allowance but a one income family is clearly worse off. (I'm talking people who don't even claim benefits at all here) The system is geared up to EVERYONE working when infact it would probably create more jobs, save on benefits if you opted for the system above. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

In all honesty 7dw I have no idea on the non dependant rules on this. I only found out last week through reading it that disabled people could have someone staying with them that wouldn't count as an ND.
The same rules apply to LHA it is only if they are seen as a sleep-in carer and there is a need for the extra bedroom. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
Why is a 2 bed flat completely different from a 2 bed house?
Also, child related benefits are given to spend on the child, not on paying the mortgage, so I don't see how this is relevant.
I'm not saying it isn't possible in a 2 bed flat just more difficult to share with a stranger.
Just like disability benefits are given to spend on disability related expenditure thenHA got you there you can't have it both ways can you? Well actually yes you probably will argue it!

regarding lodgers ....
i have friends with kids that are ready to leave home and be independant ... but they arent going to replace living with their parents to go and live with their parents friend!
as i said, the private lets here are reasonable ( for a 2/3 bed) so they houseshare.
i have no family near, but again they wouldnt want to live with a 49 year old aunt!
i have 2 friends in the same position as me. one disabled and the other working 20 hours a week ( all she can get)
the disabled friend has an adapted property (which he will have to pay the 14%) the other friend is quite happy to consider me moving in with her. but as a lodger, i would lose my security, and the same applies visa versa.
Why do lodger have to be young people? Why not post grads doing a few months research in one place, seasonal agricultural workers, locum doctors or nurses, consultants, teachers?0 -
they dont have to be young ... but one of the previous posts specified that group0

Well yes, I will when people argue that they need a spare room to store mobility equipment or because someone (not an official carer) stays over sometimes to look after them. Both of these seem to be part of a person's care needs.
If neither of these are the case then I think a spare room is a luxury and needs to be paid for out of someone's budget for non essentials.0 -

Are you sure - I don't think that's ever been possible?0 -
50% affected do fall into that category though. We've already established that.
Single disabled people (without needs you mention above) like Nanny have already gone to great length to demonstrate that there is no one bedroomed accommodation and that is backed up by the fact this true.
But it is now a luxury not of their own makiing that you think they should pay for?The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
a non working blind person can still transfer their aditional tax allowance ... but no to a partner as such.
it mist be to a husband/wife/civil partner.
u dont understand why vlind people get an additional tax allowance though, as the disability elenent of wtc is aksi oayavke.
for the record ... i never claimed this extra tax allowance.
