Afternoon, everyone.
We went out yesterday to my husband's cousin. John ( the cousin) was 60 earlier this week, and he seems to be having ongoing celebrations. He had a buffet lunch to which family and friends were invited.
We hopped on the high speed train to Stratford International, then 4 stops on the underground to Woodford. That high speed train service has really opened up travel to east London.
We had a nice time - standing round with drinks and making conversation isn't really my thing, but it was nice to see family members we don't see that often.
So today I've been doing yesterdays ironing and eBay parcel packing, plus my Monday housework. I'm going to carry some over to Tuesday - I'm exhausted after this mornings efforts.
We are having plaice for dinner, so not too much preparation needed.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Afternoon all,
Ive just walked in. Hubby insisted on taking me for a test drive on this new car he wanted to take out. I thought i'd get away with not going by asking our son if he wanted to go instead of me but although our son went, hubby still wanted me to go.
I think ive said it before but i have got no interest in cars whatsovever. The cars i do think are suitable he doesnt like and the cars he likes i can see wont be suitable... hence he has what he likes and changes them so often when they dont suit his needs.
We didnt go on the test drive after all, we waited 20 minutes for the guy to sort the car out and hubby got impatient and walked out. He's pretty much decided against it anyway.
On return home he has a phone call. He is working all of Saturday subcontracting for his previous employer on a price in the outskirts of London.
He's also been offered 4 months work close to home which he is happy about. This means he can come home each night and sleep in his own bed. To be honest, the last job he was on in London burned him out and there was no way he was going back to working away so soon after leaving the job. He hasnt got a start date just yet but is working out his hourly rate. He is moaning he hasnt had time to spend down our caravan though (and i want to moan that the pile of stuff he was going to ebay is still piled a mile high and will obviously never get done now.)
Son is going to Liverpool tomorrow to stay with friends for a few days. Its the first time he's stayed away from home for a period of time and i'm a bit apprehensive. His Dad is taking him in the morning. He wanted me to go with him as he will be just a few minutes from the bording school he went to as a child and wanted to look up a few of his old haunts but ive made an excuse that i need to stay at home with the dogs.
Since hubby will be out most of tomorrow i am shifting my Monday cleaning rota over to Tuesday (its easier to do it with people out of the house).
Jobs for today:
[STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Tea..... not sure what we are having yet.[/STRIKE]
Have a good sunny day all

Afternoon everyone,
JackieO I hope that your friend's DD is ok.
Halight Good luck!
Just back from my ultimate geek trip to see the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva.
I have had a fabulous time. The 24 young people (17-18 years old) that we took with us were a delight to be with and throughout the whole 4 days everyone remarked upon what a great bunch they were and how well behaved they were.
It is now half term and I have come back to a tip of a house containing no food! I have been out to get some bits for tea and will start cooking in a minute.
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.:)0 -

halight...... I was really upset to hear of Richard Briers passing. He brought so much laughter to so many and he played a really good villain as I recall in Midsommer Murders and New Tricks. He truly was a National Treasure
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
