so thought id sign up now to online banking, asked me for several questions and then gave me a 0845 number to ring, been on phone - on hold almost 40 mins and have given up...has anyone experienced this?
what other alternative is their - by going to branch to set online banking?
i remember i did everything online for setting up a santander and didnt encounter this problem?
Santander online banking should be already set up: Enter customer number, then pick a silly picture and enter a passphrase to go with it, enter a PIN and whammo you're in. But not exactly all that secure either.
The banks really can't win: Customers want online security but then complain about the steps needed to register and login. From where I'm sitting the more difficult it is to register and login the more secure it is.0 -

well i did mention that i DID NOT encounter this problem wit santander as everything was done online, whilst i set up my account.
i hope hoping halifax was the same? but its not!0 -
I remember trying to setup OLB in-branch, they tried three times on their computer system and it gave them an error each time, so they rang up IT Support who said they never heard of the error, and I eventually left the branch with the instructions "Try that page on your home PC later today and let us know if it works". Went through first time.
So if it doesn't work, leave it a few days and try again.
did you get it to work in the end? or still in the same position?0 -

It won't be restricted due to them awaiting the signature mandate - I never actually sent my signature mandate back in error and my online banking works fine and has done since I opened the account in May last year.
It'll most likely be blocked due to them not being able to confirm your identity through the security questions etc. You should get a letter through soon saying something along those lines. I had this when I tried to set up online banking with an old savings account.0 -

Complaints department, I received £35 for complaining about my credit card charge as they messed up. I also wasn't happy about being on hold for 10 mins for such a simple question. First call I hung up, second call, they put me through to complaints and they already knew I had phoned up first so they were awaiting me!:j
Planning for my future early

I tried again a few days later and it went through first time. About 3 days later I got everything I needed to login.0 -

but if its blocked due to id checks, my bank card works as the £100 incentive has been deposited and i also deposited some money aswell.
if they are going to send me a letter usually when abouts is it from receiving your bank card, pin etc...how many days/weeks later?0 -

I don't think it was Halifax's fault as you had not returned the items they requested.
Plus had you have waited a while they would have sent all your online banking details in the post as they automatically send these in the post, they mail you an activation code!!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0
