Can anyone tell me please, im putting in for a crisis loan on monday, ive never had one before, im due to get my ctc on that day but they have been stopped and ive put in a joint claim now, ive been told the joint claim will probably take 3 to 4 weeks for this area to come through. I dont receive any jsa now until 26th feb so im going a week and a half without any money, ive no money left and i have a child, does anyone know what the procedure is on the phone and roughly how much i would be entitiled to to get me through. Ive also got an outstanding budgeting loan which i pay back every fortnight, ive got £160 left to pay, will i be able to get another or not. Really confusing because i really need some money asap on monday, to pay for food and bills. Thankyou.

surely if you are due jsa on 26th that means you only got paid last monday? if you knew your ctc had been stopped crisis loan will say you should have budgeted for the shortfall on ctc!January Wins - Gangster Squad Goodies, Sun Lotion
February Wins - Wombles Goody Bag, Ideal Home Show Tickets, Lunch on Cruise Ship
March Wins - 2night family break to legoland, outfit from Kaleidoscope, Iron Cleaning Stck.
2013 aims - Ipad, Iphone, Family Holiday.0 -
the OP should be getting ctc on monday but payments have been stopped whilst the claim is changed from a single to a joint claim.
the budgeting loan wont affect the chances of getting a crisis loan.
they will only give you enough to cover essentials ( gas/electric/food_ for a few days at a time0 -

I think the OP says that her CTC has stopped and that is why she is without any money.
OP, when you telephone for a Crisis loan it will take about 40 minutes.
They will ask you what money you have coming in at the moment (include all household money - what is your OH receiving?) and they will ask if you have any friends/relatives who can lend you the money until your tax credits are reinstated.
One of my clients was told to go and get a food parcel so be prepared for this and find out where you have to go (ask at the Job Centre or CAB.)
Basically it is extremely hard to get crisis loans and since you already have a budgetting loan this may make it even more difficult.
I am not trying to put you off applying but they are really meant for emergency situations. (although I'm sure you feel this is an emergency)
So, before you apply is there any other avenue to explore?
Food bank/borrow from family/friends/credit card/overdraft (latter two not recommended obviously but may be a short term solution)
Bills can be left - just let them know what is happening.
If you have electricity/gas meters ask for some money so that you can top them up.
Have ready exactly what you need the money for - they won't give you much
Good luck.0 -

I'm sorry to say that owing money for a Budgetting loan can affect the decison since they come from the same fund (https://www.gov.uk/crisis-loans/what-youll-get)0 -

it would also depend on the reason that a crisis loan was needed.
if it's because of a delay in a live claim there usually isnt an issue.0 -
Yes thats why i need to apply for one, im due to receive £62.09 om monday, but wont receive it at all until my claim is sorted out, im worried now looking through the posts, that i might not get anything then what will i do. ive never asked for a crisis loan ever, but i really need to feed my child, im willing to turn to a food bank if needs be short term.it would also depend on the reason that a crisis loan was needed.
