Messing around under the bonnet and I saw a small pipe unconnected. It appears a small plastic nozzle has broken off in the rubber connecting hose.
Any ideas to how important or what this part does. Petrol Saab turbo, and it's on the top and rear of the engine as you stand in front of the car.

While you could get another twin outlet casting, you could always go to your local aquarium shop, get a mixture of those green air hose connectors and do a very satisfactory repair for next to nothing.0

It looks like a crankcase breather hose but a very thin one at that.
I would buy new bits & pipes from Saab. That thin pipe looks like it might be completely blocked with crud. None of those bits would break your wallet and I think shiny new ones would be the best way to go..
I'd replace:
The grey plasitc thing
The rubber grommit behind it
The short thin black pipe
The white thing
The long thin black pipe behind the white thing.
You'll probably find that big grey thing is a push fit through a rubber grommit replace the grommit too. Saab will show you on their diagrams how it comes out.0 -

As a temporary repair, I would block up each end with a bit of round hard wood and or insulation tape wrapped around.
I would then buy new bits & pipes from Saab. That thin pipe looks like it might be completely blocked with crud. none of those 3 bits would break your wallet and I think shiny new ones would be the best way to go..

Brilliant, thanks. Have checked flea bay and there are loads of them.

Have currently used some Araldite Epoxy Adhesive to stick the broken plastic back onto the main plastic body until I can get the new bits added.0 -
Followed your link & it isn't a crankcase breather... see my link above.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

So where does the thin pipe go to then? It is a breather of some description.
And where does the fat pipe go to...the crankcase perhaps?
It's a breather for the valve cover & the bit WJ needs is in my link. They are a bit prone to breaking.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
From an exploded diagram on one of those ebay parts the white thing could be a non-return valve....item 3A... "not sold seperatly"?0

Have just ordered! I need the small rubber hose as well. In my link they were about £16 which I thought was a bit dear for such a small hose but I am obviously looking at the wrong thing.0
