Go on then, add something to the discussion instead of this type of thing. You're a long time here and I'm sure you have something valuable to say.

I really don't see the point of this. I asked you to add and you sent links of back posts.
This isn't about who's the cleverest you know. It's about having a civil discussion. If you don't want to have one then just block me.0 -

totally agree with you...
I know in one of our local supermarkets, they were saying that meat products, fresh, tinned and frozen etc are down...and this isnt just mince meat, it is joints of meat too.
Alot of people i have spoken too, have said they have started buying meat from their local butchers..Work to live= not live to work0 -
I went to my local butchers today for the first time. I bought 2 chicken supremes (not sure what they are, I asked for breasts?), 750g of diced lamb and 6 eggs. Came to £14! Can anyone advise some cheaper cuts to ask for possibly? I like to cook, and am willing to learn. I have a slow cooker :-)0

I *think* supreme has the wing still attached. Whole chicken or chicken legs are cheaper and tastier, breasts are the most expensive part and not even particularly nutritious. Lamb is expensive generally: shoulder is cheaper than leg but much more fatty, lovely in the slow cooker but not to everyone's taste. Most on the bone meat is nice in the slow cooker, can often be tastier and cheaper because there is less work and waste for the butcher.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I agree with fire fox. Lamb is expensive for the prime cuts,
even thought its a bit fatty, breast of lamb is good in a slow cook, and scrag end of lamb ( neck).
as for the chicken .. I allways go for a whole chicken... as I can normally get a few meals out of it...
Maybe next time tell the butcher what you were thinking of making, and he will suggest some cheaper meatsWork to live= not live to work0
