For those of you that have not ordered I just spotted this on the dell offer page
on the Dell Home/Home office page
"Call 0870 907 5818 to order your desktop or notebook featured below and receive a free optical mouse. You will receive further details of the promotion in the box when you receive your new Dell system.Click here to see more offers."0 -
One thing to remember with Dell (from personal experience): often if you do not pick a sound or graphics card (they often have it running from the motherboard) then if you want to upgrade you'll find it almost impossible. My last Dell PC didn't have an AGP slot (yes, got a PCI graphics card, but still...) I also only had one memory slot which means it is harder to upgrade.
Their PC's are often cheap but they often will be built so nothing else squeezes in the box! (ie, mine couldn't even fit an extra HDD)
Be fore-warned. However, for £300 inc a 17" TFT? Ah, you can't go wrong)

Have tried twice to bag the free printer via their sales lines but they're not too keen. I've been told that
1. "It doesn't have a free printer because it's £50 off."
Nonsense as others with money off have the free printer.
2. "It's in the business section so the free printer doesnt apply"
Nonsense because it's just not true.
I have learned that Dell staff are very good at avoiding direct questions though. I've given up with the printer (for now). If anyone else is bothered and bags one let me know how you did it ?
Cheers,

I think this is a good offer. But I think the free printer or free optical mouse would totally swing it for me...!0

Looks like it's for specific overpriced systems though.0 -
Just rang them and was told the offer does not include the free printer.0

If they're just reading what's on their screen then they will say that but the facts are that a). The offer banner is present on the relevant page for this system (whereas it's lacking for excluded systems), and b). This system is not one of the excluded models listed by Dell themselves.
So there is an argument to be had (along the lines of 'website/basket error', their fault). However, arguing with Indian Call Centre Staff is not a particular strength of mine.
