My understanding from what's been posted is that the OP was given the go ahead to get the repair done by the seller.

no the repair was verbally agreed after the event.

    why would i tow a car 250 miles for a £150 repair ?

How would wrong battery make a car unsafe as long as it was secured?

i never said it did , a failing ball joint made the car unsafe.
i had to replace the battery myself as it was the wrong rating
