I'm with Ringo. The OP needs to let her son make his own mistakes, its the only way we learn. I can't belive that people think it is acceptable to interfere in a 21y/o's plans.

Dyslexia doesn't equal stupid and I daresay that the only reason that the lad doesn't understand the value of money is because his mother controls his wallet.

Anyway advice on Blackpool. I adore it, its the most incredibly cheesy fun night out ever. Don't do the organised tour thing, they are rubbish. Book a cheap b&b (if you do a search there are loads that have a free bar included in the price) Go on the rides, get drunk, dance and be merry. Ps - the lapdances in blackpool are a great laugh.
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.

If only I did control his wallet!! You've misinterpreted my concern, he is something of an "innocent abroad" and very easily taken in by others - he is far from stupid as he is on for a 2:1 BA Hons degree next year, just has very poor reasoning skills. I have suggested that he books a b&b independantly and looks for a club to go to but he believes all the blurb on this company's glossy brochure so it looks like he will be booking with them.

Once his mind is made up, no one will be able to change it and I have never, ever interfered with his plans, only if I can see a real problem ahead (eg danger to life and limb - because he will not see it till it happens). I only wanted advice on whether this firm were known as "rip off merchants" and how much he needs to budget for. He has been away before and every time runs out of money - his dad had to drive all the way to Scarborough one time to take him some more as he had also lost his bank card - we just know what is coming!!

Ring the Blackpool Tourist Board and see what they know of this company. get them to send you their glossy brochures too maybe he can be swayed by them!

I went to blackpool last year for my own stag weekend and had a great time

We booked through this site http://partyinblackpool.co.uk/ and it was fine- the hotel we stayed in was fairly basic and shabby (and was regarded as a deluxe so goodness knows what the eeconomy was like) but was in a great location and run by a good laugh of a couple- it was called the firgrove hotel I think

Blackpool is tacky but is geared up to the stag/hen market and so should be OK for getting into some places

We ended up in walkabout one night and flares the next and both were a good laugh

As for trouble- we did see a little bit in a place called brannigans but we ddin't stay there long anyways and by all accounts it's the bars up towards the pleasure beach that have the worst repuations for trouble

Provided they use common sense they should be fine

    Hi,

I am from a towm called lytham which is about 15 - 20 minutes drive from blackpool and i am a 19 year old male who regularly goes out in blackpool at the weekend.

In my experience blackpool is not exactly the most quality of places to visit but for a group of lads on a 21st its ideal. It is not the unsafe haven for trouble like everyone seems to think and it isnt exactly a ripoff compared to going to a city such as birmingham or manchester which dont exactly have the best reputation.

i would suggest your son books his hotels seperate from blackpool rocks as everything they are offering is stuff you can get yourself by picking up the phone and calling the clubs and requesting VIP etc. If you ring Sanuk nickghtclub and ask for entry to the gallery vip area more than likely you will be granted it. if you dont want your son to stay in blackpool, then st anens just outside is only a 2 pound bus journey or a 10 pound taxi ride away and is a very nice place to stay with some fantastic hotels at cheap prices, i would reccomend the fernlea hotel on the promenade.

you have every right to be worried, my mum worries about me every weekend when i go into blackpool but thats just because shes my mum and its her job to worry! as long as your son sticks to the right places and him and his friends stick together then they wioll have a fantastic weekend!

sorry this note was a bit of a rush and if you want any more information on anything, hotels, things to do, places to avoid etc. please just ask i will respond asap!

    regards

    Kyle
