I asked a simple question: is it possible to order the new GT without lowered suspension?

    ...

The man proceeded to insist the GT doesn't have lowered suspension (incorrect),

I hate to rain on your parade but if it comes from the factory lowered, then its "as designed" without modification. In other words, they've lowered it intentionally as part of the design and released it as a product designed to be like that. In their eyes, its then not lowered because that would be a customisation done after sale /.purchase. This isn't, it's done before it's even left the factory.

Therefore its factory spec and not lowered. Did you think of it like that?

Lowered compared to other models in the range.

That's lower, not lowered. It might seem pedantic but "lowered" has a specific meaning and the way the OP used it is not correct. A car cannot have lowered suspension unless its suspension has been lowered. That may well be what confused the salesman.

Yes you're right, it is pedantic and doesn't add any value to this thread whatsoever.

You might want to contact Audi about how they describe the suspension fitted to the A3 Sport model and correct them as describing the suspension as "sports suspension, lowered by 15mm" on their website is clearly so wrong.

Apart from 10mm height reduction, the GT also gets a multi-link rear suspension - lesser models (with engines less than 122PS) get a poverty-pack torsion beam.

    Still? In 2013?

Wow. My poverty-spec Nissan, nearly 15 years ago, came with multilink suspension.

lol this must be a wind up.

    i want a GT-TDI or a GT(i) but i dont want the sports suspension!?
thats like asking if you can have an audi TT with a 1.6 golf engine fitted?

the GT ranges all have sports suspension to toughen and tighten the handling and road grip because of the power they produce, why would you want a powerfull car that cant hold the road in a simple bend doing 40-60 MPH?

next youll be asking if they can make the price cheaper by putting ditch finders on it and asking to down grade the brakeing system to polo 1.2.

    youve made my day!

On the flip side of the coin, the Golf 'R' with the DSG gearbox can only cope with 40bhp less than it has, making the GTI more than sufficient.

Athough (and it wasn't Poole) the VW dealership didn't mention this to one of the guys in the office 18 months ago.

I phoned Skoda last week, and asked what the rear seat width was on the new Rapid, and they've found the answer after a few hours. I'd rather ask a question on the phone (it's necessary to know this for taxi licensing purposes), than to travel 6 hours to see the dealer, to find out that the vehicles aren't suitable (we use a dealer 6 hours away, as Scotland is some 25% cheaper for new cars than London)

I agree, it's not the customers job to be specific.
There are valid reasons some-one may want the higher spec model but doesn't want low ground clearance.

A good salesman would have asked if was worried about the seat entry height, ground clearance etc.

I think the manager handled the issue very well.

If he doesn't record calls (and generally I wouldn't imaging a dealership wouldn't), what do you expect him to do?
