  • Well I suppose it could be billable to the Company who uses it and then allow people to register for free - And there are plenty of big names that send out sms, email and or ring people so this is not just down to dodgy Company's and having worked within the data industry now for just under a year I constantly hear from people who want to reduce spam and it is obvious that the powers that be at present do not suffice.

How would you vet the companies that would be signed up? there would be hundreds or thousands required, it would need a whole big team of staff vetting them full time and at great cost, Companies House and credit checks, director searches etc. Under data protection law you would have to ensure each had the resources and systems in place to protect the information you supplied to them. Unless the only companies you have in mind are Tesco, Argos, Sainsburys and so on which don't spam anyway.

Sorry but the whole thing is as viable as the Isle of Man Lunar Space Program!
  • If I get a text from an unknown number I delete it,
If I get a call from an unknown number I ignore it.
    There saved myself £4,99

Blimey I am getting good at this money saving lark

What you've described in the opening sentence is the TPS.

With the greatest of respect - you haven't really thought this through, have you!

I don't get spam from "reputable" UK based companies. If I do get unwanted email from them, I use the unsubscribe option in the email that all reputable companies include.

I certainly wouldn't pay anything to put my details on a list when I can deal with the issue myself for nothing and without risking my details being on another database somewhere.
