Good article and very timely for me.

I always stuck with Quidco because it was a close run thing for top cashback and too much hassle to use more than one cashback site but am now seriously considering where to switch my allegiance. Customer service is absolutely dreadful. It takes ages to resolve an issue and often you just get friendly but bland responses about no obligation to pay. They say they are making improvements to meet their significant growth recently.

Amongst many other problematic transactions I took out two insurance policies in May this year (total cashback over £200) and spent months sending enquiries and raising tickets trying to get the cash. Eventually after six months I raised a ticket saying "I am now considering taking my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, Financial Services Authority and Office of Fair Trading. Before making a decision on this I now give you SEVEN DAYS NOTICE to provide a firm payment date." I got a response within 7 HOURS and the money was actually paid out the following week.
If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.

Rpoints have a feature thats not covered. They have a highest cashback promise www.rpoints.com/hcp/
Your article says "don't spread your cashback too thin" well I don't as Rpoints match competitors offers and I consider Rpoints much better at tracking than others.

I often see people using Quidco but not being tracked and not getting cashback, well I just use Rpoints HCP and get what others don't.

I think I have the best solution, one company and always the highest cashback especially now with your cashback checker!

  • Great comparison tool, but unfortunately the first retailer I tried was wrong! Boots Kitchen Appliances was listed as 8.25% with cashback rewards, but it's actually only 1.32%!

    Gutted.

Thanks for the tool though, but moneysavers might want to double check the rates before buying!

This was the first cashback site I used. I now dont touch it as their cashback rates are low compared to thers and their customer service stinks.

At the moment cashbackbay is my favourite! :T Good rates of cashback, good customer service and swift confirmation of cashback.

I will give this one a try. Not having any joy with Quidco. Lost out on £125 last year and £115 has failed to track in Dec.

It is worth noting that if you use a cashback site it is always best practice to clear your cookies first. Since quidco et al use cookies for tracking the purchase, the only way to ensure their cookie tracks your purchase is to make sure theirs is the only one stored.

For example, 2 days ago you visited John Lewis from a none cashback site, yet the link was an affiliate one, a cookie would be set then, and this cookie can be valid usually for 30 days, BUT a cookie can be set to expire in any number of days. Anyway, carrying on, today you visit John Lewis, but this time via quidco and then you discover that it has not tracked. WHY... well the cookie that was set 2 days ago has taken precedance over the one set by quidco and the guy with the site you visited 2 days ago earns the commission via the affiliate link on his own site.

The reason for cookies. In affiliate marketing a website owner can display ads and banners for a merchant, i.e. John Lewis. The visitor to the website owners page clicks through, but decides not to make a purchase there and then. 5 days later, the user visits John Lewis and the cookie is still valid, so the website owner makes a commission.

Hope that helps explain the reason for no tracking sometimes. Also, merchants at the affiliate networks dgm2, tradedoubler et al do not always confirm the purchases for a long time. It is only when a merchant confirms commission that cashback site owners can credit the money into your cashback account.

Why do I know all this... I own a cashback site.

May I ask which one or is that not in order?

    Hi,

Hope I'm posting in the right place... How long does it take for cash back to show as tracked on quidco.

I went through quidco to purchase insurance last thursday (or was it friday???) ... anyway, it's not showing up as tracked. Is this normal?? It's only the second time I've used it and am panicking a bit.

    Thanks xx
