  • Bumping this thread as it is relevant to my situ.

I have been buying the value cat litter with my online grocery shop since 2009 as my cat prefers this. Just recently it has disappeared and I have noticed it is still in store.

So I phoned customer care and he admitted some of the value items have been removed in order to make customers spend more. Just don't think it is very fare really.

I don't think supermarket have ever been in the business of being fair, they have always been in the business of rinsing customers for as much as possible. If they were fair they'd knock on the head about half their stock, all the stuff that is wall to wall junk ingredients/ detrimental to health even in relative moderation. And I don't believe they didn't know about the horsemeat, or at least have a strong suspicion.

  • Call me cynical but all this, 'ooh aren't we great/caring/eco friendly/saving you money.' Well it's all a load of rubbish, they want your money and that's that and as much of it as possible, they have share holders to satisfy of course. Having worked for suppliers of these companies I can tell you they are ruthless.

No love lost between me and these companies!

This has annoyed me too. Value cat litter has been unavailable for a while now, and it is the one thing I really *need* delivered, as I don't have a car and it is too heavy for me to carry home on foot/by bike.

Anything else I can pop in and pick up.

I'm allowed to order it with mine, maybe it is area specific? Maybe the cat litter is as well?

They only have a certain of best selling lines available online. These lines will be store specific so they might be available for certain shoppers but not others in different areas. They lines will also change regularly as they are the best selling lines, this is to keep the web site to a certain size and to try and help the availability. There is I point in having all the products on line if the store only stock a case or two of it.

I've been ok with Value lines BUT:

I have to check Wednesday price changes

one example Tesco Pasta was 50p normal price before Wednesday and 95p or 2 for £1. 50 from Wednesday.

I asked about this also in store, as i used to buy this all the time too. I said how come it has been £1.79 ( or whatever price it was) for years then it jumps to £2.00 and then back down to original price. I was told it was on promotion ( only two weeks after it having been increased). Do they think we are stupid???

My friend was working as a picker for online orders until recently and he said that some items were not available online because they only hold a small amount in store. This was to try and cut down on the money they lose giving out substitutions.
