Continental (United Airlines) Compensation

Well I wasn't sure if I was entitled to this as the airline had merged with United and I had heard they had some of the worst customer service around so thought I would never hear anything.
Last month I got an email offering me either 600 euro cheque or $1000 travel certificate for the airline, for a late flight in 2008 to New York. It was 4 hours late and only gave us a £1 token voucher to use at the shop.
Needless to say I took the 600 euros as I have a wedding next year to pay for. However the company sent me a cheque for 420 euros, and said that was all I was entitled to. One more nicely worded email and they are sending me out another cheque for 180 euros, thank you very much!
So it just shows it pays to try! Give it a go everyone, there is no harm and the worst anyone can say is no! Just be patient as it took months to hear back.

Hi well done! I would like to claim for a Continental flight to NY from London that was delayed in 2009 for 5.5 hours. The airline claimed a part had to be taken from Gatwick to Heathrow to fix the PA system. But we found out later the braking system was faulty!

Did you claim by email or post? Can you kindly give me the contact details to submit my claim? And if they fob me off, what did you say in the follow up email to get them to up the compensation?

    Thanks again!
  • I am also trying to claim from continental for one delayed flight and one cancelled flight on my trip to New York. Any help with details for contacting them would be greatly appreciated- I sent 2 emails through customer service email contact on united website weeks ago which I have had no response to.

Does anyone have a postal address or tip for how to get them to respond please?!
