Probably because Kia are (quite rightly) confident in their build quality, also seems to help keep used prices up of picantos and the like.

I will see what Vauxhall have to say about it, if not i will await apn70 sending me this Autoexpress article and i might try getting in touch with them.

I wouldn't be bothered if I knew from the start I wasn't getting the warranty, but it's when the only reason I agreed to buy the car was because the manager assured me I would get the warranty
  • Hope you get a good result with this.

Moral of the story: get it in writing! :)

You are clearly clutching at straws, even the posters in the showroom, hardly known for their small print, included the sentence along the lines of - Available to the First Owner- which you are not.
Go in guns blazing and they'll turn you away, act the naive, upset little girl and they might throw you a bone, but what you wont get is a lifetime guarantee. That was an inducement to private owners to buy new, you got a discounted pre-reg instead.

Although by that logic a salesman could promise virtually anything they wished as long as there was a poster on the wall somewhere in the showroom stating otherwise.

The guy I spoke to at the Lifetime Warranty team sounded like he felt sorry for me and basically said all the garage needs to do is sign the warranty over to me, so it must apply to second owners under certain terms, and upon looking online i've seen a couple of places state that if you buy the car as the second owner and the car is under 200 miles the warranty can be passed from garage to customer

Interestingly the 7 year warranty offered by Kia is fully transferable to subsequent owners.

Same with the 5 year warranty offered by Hyundai.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

There has been a piece in AutoExpress in the last couple of weeks about this very issue. They eventually went to AutoExpress and got the warranty. If you pm me, I'll see if I still have it when I'm back home at the weekend, I can scan and email you a copy of the article.

And that's why the media - if not 'the papers' can be a useful ally and interested in stuff like this.

    Good luck OP!

Maybe transferable but like all these companies they will always try to find a get out.

The last 3 cars Ive bought have been pre registered and bought at around 3/6 months and the warranty has been passed automatically to me. And Ive actually had work done under the warranty. in my case they have only been 3 years mind.

Is the person who told yu this still working there, if so, what are they saying, if not, not a lot you can do i'm afraid.

Ring Trading standards, see what they say

Just out of curiosity, is there any warranty at all on the car. You shuld have some documentation for that at least.

standard warranty vs the lifetime warranty
from memory its the main part of the VX lifetime warranty that it goes with the 1st owner
so they know its only going to be very very few cars it applies to long term
