£100 Ka Bangernomics

Rust isn't really a problem on a £100 car.
You're not expecting it to pass another MOT, and as long as it appears safe enough (and has a valid ticket) I don't see a problem.
Finally, a Ka being sold for what these horrible little cars are truly worth. Given that the basic mechanicals are pretty sound on these cars I wouldn't let the rot put me off though (I've bought scabby Jap cars in the past as cheap hacks due for similar reasons -- worthless due to the rust but the mechanicals just keep going and going). As mentioned, you'll get your money back in scrap.0 -
Even if your not buying to make money, at equivalent to £20/month as long as its safe then still worth it IMO0

I agree with Jase and Arcon - £100 - what do people expect, it is decades since I last bought a car with an MOT for £100, this thread should be in the Bangernomics section. The Ford Ka is a horrible little car, but it is transport - just about!0

The engines and boxes on them are fine but its everything else that is trouble.
My point was if hes only going to buy it to sell it on immediately OR buy, drive it, scrap it, what does it matter what the sills are like?
There a quite profit in that car or close to zero cost motoring for six months.0 -

Do it right and theres no depreciation at all, because it will weight in at maybe £100-£120, the batter is worth £6 and the alloys £50 if all cleaned and weighed in separately.0 -
I'm actually quite fond of them. Yes, they rust like theres no tomorrow and in terms of styling and dynamics they're well past their sellback date, but the engines / gearboxes are bulletproof and the mechanicals simple. Also, they tend to have keep fit windows instead of electric ones at that age, no central locking and no aircon, so very little to go wrong.
In terms of bangernomics, a cheap KA would tick a lot of boxes.0 -
Great for ploughing though the snow and better than being a busw*nker so a great little buy that you can fix with a knife and fork, run it while its legal and put it in ebay. (Currently round here you'd get £80 scrap).0

I've never owned one but they're pleasant little things to drive I must admit.0

My last £100 motor was 1982 (and it had a tyre blow-out on it's first motorway trip) so I figure you're doing all right0

I bought a £100 car 6 years ago, and I'm still driving it now, with an extra 40,000 miles on the clock.0
