No diffrence.
The difference is the increased chance of fraud from a feature I don't want/need.dalesrider wrote: »Well the reverse is true in my group.dalesrider wrote: »Also all the figures both Visa & Mastercard (They intorduced contactless, not the banks) said the public want them.dalesrider wrote: »How is contactless cards making it easier for the staff to take details?
The issue is the staff and their access to details. how the transactions are processed makes no diffrence.....dalesrider wrote: »USA are big on contactless... Yet the ysay chip/pin is insecure... Go figure that one out.0 -
I wonder if the industry will look at ways to turn the feature on and off as mentioned in this article here:

I had a Virgin Money credit card for two years that was set up for contactless payments. I never found one retailer that was set up to use it.
I use my credit cards for stoozing so every time I popped in to the local co-op (on a nearly daily basis) this would have been great for me.
Where does accept contactless payments??0 -

WH Smiths, McDonalds, Co op, M&S, & The Post Office is where I use mine personally.
However you can use the visa website to find your nearest retailer that accepts contactless payments:

Well I'd say they didn't question a suitable cross section of society then. Because most people I know think its stupid.
I can understand other people being cautious of new technology, specially when its touted as "You can pay for things just by moving your card near the reader" (like in the Barclays advert where someone pays for a banana whilst on a slide).0 -

Just look how many people use the technology already use it in other forms.
Oyster card.
Secure door passes.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
and ski lift passes....
For those of you who have never used them, you put the ski-pass contactless card in your top left hand ski jacket upper pocket.
As you pass by the lift entrance 'gates' the card reader on your left automatically reads your card in your jacket, checks its validity in all respects and then if OK it opens the turnstile thingy in front of you.0 -

I had an oyster card, no problem as I never had more then £25 on it at a time, so very limited possibility of fraud.
Secure door passes do not give access to bank accounts, so I'm cool on them.
The ski lift example shows that range of readers is not as limited as some people would like to imply.0 -

The skii cards are based on the same technology but are specifically designed for a further range.0
