They have since won the item, and are yet to pay.

Lets see what happens next and see if you guys were right with:

How can you KNOW this for sure? Imagine if everyone had this attitude when you first started on Ebay, your post would be more to the tune of "How can I get anyone to trust me on Ebay?"

Two choices. Stop reading this forum. Or stop selling. You just aren't cut out for it.

I'm sorry but I've obviously had a long day at work. I appear to be reading a thread where a seller doesn't actually seem to want bidders.

As for all the 'what if's' maybe the sky will fall in tomorrow...

Or whether I predicted correctly with:

However, what I think will happen, is they will win the item, and then I will never hear from them or receive payment, so I won't be 'scammed' as such.
It will just mean waiting 4 days for them to pay for the item(which they won't), then opening up an 'unpaid item' case against them, and then the transaction eventually being cancelled by Ebay and me getting my fees back.
That is what will likely happen, although I still don't understand their 'angle'?

Be back when I have to open a case against them....
  • So, your buyer didn't pay.

Why should anyone be surprised? There was a chance they would pay but equally a chance they wouldn't, it's one or the other, not rocket science.

The point of those comments made by those you have quoted in post 32, was that you were jumping the gun. You were expecting to be scammed and yet the item hadn't even sold.

Why are you not opening a case now? Why tell us you will be back when you 'have to open' a case. Do it now, save us all from the excitement.

Can't open a case until tomorrow.

I started the thread because I knew this would happen, and I wanted to cancel their bid somehow to avoid having to open up a case etc.

Everyone seemed to think I was stupid for predicting this would happen, lol.
But it looks like I was correct, as was kind of always gonna be the case.
  • Hi - didn't see this thread until now.
Yes - I get this every few months too. Buyers with no history bidding on expensive items. You wont receieve any payment, but you won't be scammed either.
Not sure why they do it really.

    .

In fairness, he received some abuse for expecting this scanario to play out, so you'd think people WOULD be surprised! haha

Wow, I've just checked back to 2008,I bought a mobile phone, gold coin and a ps3 for my first three feedbacks,I'm glad i didn't look on here first to see how much of a scammer i was going to be. Wonder what my sellers thought of me then? To put the icing on the cake the ps3 was paid by paypal and then collected in person by me.
