it wasnt aimed at you.
but if you give an opinion, it should be informed.
'if' you didnt work ... but you do.
when my kids leave home ... but they havent.
you have told me i should feel lucky that i have a secure tenancy. and im very happy that i have one.
but you cant compare the fact that you will have to move in x years time, because you having to relocate and a disabled person having to relocate, are in no way the same or even similar.
No, but not everyone in council housing is disabled.
My points were not aimed at the disabled.
But in the last view weeks all you get on here are people moaning that they are going to have to pay more rent, pay more council tax. They spouse is expected to actually work.
I have always been the type of person that just gets on with it, no matter what life throws at me. And I can tell you I have had my fair share of it thrown at me.
But I don't come on here moaning about it, it won't change it.
I now a lot of people come on here for advice, but if they actually looked, there are pages of it for them to read.0 -

And as I have said, and will say again, I wish no-one heartache.
But having 50 threads about this is not going to change anything.
I will have to pay more council tax from April. It is just the way it is, and I am just going to get on with it. I am not going to start a thread saying how terrible it is, and how could this Government do this to me.
Not a choice, I don't meet the criteria for DLA, why on earth would I claim a benefit I don't qualify for? I'm sure you will find there are many like me who although are unable for work, do not hit the criteria for DLA.
Just because you are unfit for work, doesn't mean you have mobility or care needs. DLA is not exclusive to those on ESA, you can even claim it when working if you have mobility and care needs.
You seem to think that people who are now in council housing haven't faced what you're facing. Many of us have been there, and have been allocated council housing because of our own circumstances. Whether those be on health grounds or because of domestic abuse....
Again, don't get me wrong, I do believe in downsizing, and did it when the dd left home, big mistake but hey ho, no one could have foreseen what was going to happen to her.
OP you may need to check that out. It may cover her for one bedroom anyway, but I doubt it will cover the 2. In an ideal world they could move her into a 1/2 bedroom bungalow adapted for her needs, unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world and there aren't enough suitable properties.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Sorry but that probably is WRONG!
There are many people that are on ESA that don't get DLA. I am unable to work, but do not get, nor would apply for DLA. As I don't feel I'm quite there yet. And yes. ESA can pay a little more than JSA, but not as much as you're making out.Not a choice, I don't meet the criteria for DLA, why on earth would I claim a benefit I don't qualify for? You need to read what you write.
I am perfectly aware that some people on DLA work.
What has that got to do with this thread and you not claiming it.
You do not work.
You are making no sense.
Or are you just pointing out that a disabled person can work, while you (non-disabled) can't.0 -

I actually work. I bring in more but pay more rent and council tax.
And obviously I don't take all my sons ESA.
So, even having to pay £11 bedroom tax, you would still be far better off than a single person or couple claiming JSA. Not surprising you do not see it as such a big deal.0 -

Is it only £11 now . I thought you said you had to pay £14.
And no it doesn't affect me.
A. I work and already pay rent.
B. Being a private tenant I would pay the extra anyway.0 -

I have never said that I had to pay anything.Own_My_Own wrote: »And no it doesn't affect me.

Aided massively by other benefits that you receive for just one child, more benefits than one adult receives per week in JSA!0 -

I do not get that those benefits.
I work.
So you don't get child tax credit and child benefit for your youngest child? Which alone is worth more than JSA.0 -

Own_My_Own wrote: »Yes I get them on top of my wages.
And it really annoys you doesn't it.
Not really. I am very pro-welfare, particularly when wages are so low that they do not provide the means for working people to support themselves.
I just don't think you you realise how much hardship the bedroom tax will cause people, particularly when you state that without working you would receive £153.39 per week, which is more than double the amount an adult over 25 claiming JSA receives every fortnight.0
