Shops that advertised Price Match Promise and refuse to honor!

Options
I am wanting to buy a pram for my daughter and saw one on a website called kiddisave, advertised at £419 but they have shocking reputation for customer service.

Then I saw it on pramworld.co.uk at £425-they say they will price match any item that is the same, so I emailed them and they refused?! They state its too competitive for them to match and they have a better reputation.
Is this common?
It seems the Price Match promise is a lie! I know its not much, but its more the principle I am annoyed at.

  • You really need to read the terms and conditions of the price match - many it is only certain types of competitors and often discretionary (ie physical stores often wont match online only companies)

TBH, I am not a fan of price matches and would rather give my business to the company offering the best value
  • Terms & Conditions

If you find a product for sale at Pramworld cheaper anywhere else, we will match the lower price. This applies to ALL branded items for sale at any UK retailer - in stores, catalogues and online (excluding auction sites) for an identical product where the item is in stock, listed as new (excludes used products) and sold by the retailer. Contact us and we will verify the price with a quick phone call. Items sold as part of a multi-deal are matched to their individual price. The Price Match applies to all products and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or discounts. This offer can be withdrawn at any time.

    The terms seem straight forward
  • For what it's worth, I'd be inclined to report them to the local trading standards.

Admittedly a sale hasn't been made, but it's not right to to publish what appears to be a fairly unambiguous price match policy and to then flatly refuse to honour it.

You could put their address and website here to warn others, but their site says the item has to be in stock.
  • Try with Mothercare - they will (try and) price match.

They price matched a local retailer for the pram we just bought (Stokke Scoot) and then we used their £15 off vouchers for the car seat and then the £25 off a pram over £400 to get another £40 off.

    Bargain :D

  • £415 for a pram? Christ. People really do need to one-up their friends don't they! Only the most expensive for a baby that will never realise or care.

It's not always about the baby, it's about safety, what will fit in the car, simplicity of design to assist in putting up and down etc etc.

I have looked at prams cheap (<£200) and expensive (£800+) and there can often be a gulf between them in terms of quality but I do not think that price and quality are proportionate.

Some are fantastically designed but come at a price. £400 seems pretty reasonable and somewhere in the middle.

Could say that about absolutely anything. Car, house, TV, etc.

We paid over £500 for our pram. It is superb. Absolutely nothing to do with one-upmanship.

    It does indeed.

Maybe. It's a little disingenuous though, isn't it?
