Thanks so much everyone!
Feel as though I have had a spendathon in the last couple of days - yesterday on work expenses - around £200 in the end - and then bought the DD's shoes today - DD1 needed new school shoes as she had completely grown out of the old ones, and then they got one casual pair each - luckily 50% reduced, but still...ouchy! On top of that I paid for DD1's swimming lessons for the next term.
We're going to be on beans for the month at this rate!
Real life has also become complicated, facing serious legal fees coming up. Don't think I will be saving at all. The main thing is to avoid any debt.0 -
Sorry to hear about the pending legal expenses Breeze
but you've definitely got the right attitude about staying out of debt.

Feeling VERY annoyed with myself, as have racked a £72 bill up on my phone. GRRRRR!!! I wish they would give you a warning that you are going over the price plan. Think I will have to extend it by £3 per month to avoid this happening again.0
-
Hi Breeze. I don't now how much you use your phone or if you're tied into a contract but I swapped to a GiffGaff sim last year when my contract ended and have literally saved hundreds. I only pay £10 a month but they have lots of different options and seem hard to beat on price. :money:0

I have heard of giffgaff - not sure what network they use though?? will have a look at them. I'm not tied in - just use sim only like you. I do use my phone a fair amount (more than i think it seems!!!)
Have had a good week with very little spending so far (4 NSD), although will need to do a bit of food shopping tomorrow. I feel skint because of the work expenses earlier in the month though. I would REALLY like to treat myself to a haircut and some new clothes next weekend, as I am feeling bedraggled! - I have hardly bought a thing for myself this year and lots of my clothes are 5 years + old and getting holes in them. Not a good look!
There is another hard year ahead financially as have still got childcare costs and now legal fees, but I am really hoping things will be different a year from now.0 -
They use the O2 network, have a look at the prices & I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
As for treating yourself I think it's absolutely allowed every now and then otherwise you're less likely to stick at those NSD's. :beer:0 -
O2 network is patchy here unfortunately and does not work at work - there are others that work so i will look at those. The basic deal i have is £10 per month, - it's when i go over the deal i get absolutely killed with costs! It's a good point though - definitely should look around again.0

Hi Briz, thanks for your message. Real life is complicated right now - don't really want to post about it hence the silence. But am OK.
On the money front I bought myself a few much needed clothes as there was a 15% saving on my fave shop - not massive I know but better than nothing. Also had a hair cut so feel at least like a look a bit sharper.
My DD's have become very keen on those kid's magazines with the plastic junk stuck to the front. I allow DD1 to have one as a reward after receiving 5 stars for good behaviour or whatever, but really I think they are ridiculously expensive!! The DD's LOVE those plastic toys more than anything and I am pretty sure they probably cost 5p from China for a whole bunch of them. Trying to mull over this new additional cost in my life, as I seem to be buying them one each a week; at circa £3-£4 a go per magazine I think I could be achieving a better value treat for them somehow!!!0 -
Hi
Boo to RL but do know it gets like that sometimes.
Hmm. Tat on magazines. Sorry to say I rationalised it but we didn't get rid of it completely. Suggest you ration it to max 1 a week/ whatever and maybe get them to save 'reward money' up for some Orchard games they can play together or with you instead? They are always a good buy ( including second hand and from CSs) at your DDs age
