  • Finished reading back now, just. Have to aodmit to being one of the bonfire brigade :(

Used to be able to put the garden stuff that won't compost into the dustbin but since the council have decided to introduce a green bin and charge for it I refuse to pay them to take away stuff that they have the facilities to compost and let them charge people for the compost too!!!! So I simply have a couple of bonfires a year (in an incinerator) to burn down all the stuff I need to and put the ashes on my grapevine. Managed to fit one in on Tuesday, no-one's washing was out, no kids playing out nearby, just a grumpy old neighbour who I see rarely but ALWAYS manages to appear when I have a fire!!!! Finally got rid of the Christmas tree anyway, rose prunings, fruit bush pruning etc anyway!

wow thats shocked me , my council give lovely garden waste bags like the ikea ones but bigger and we get free green and pink bags for paper plastic and cans and glass also get food waste collection and bags and a bin all for free the bags even have this is the last one leave me more when you get to end of roll and then when they collect they leave you a couple of rolls ,

you are entitiled to a fire any time(some ppl arnt reasonable like you and dont cheack and thats what i have problem with and seeing as you was considarate i see no problems ,we cant please every-one

Then there was the time when I was up early one Saturday morning on my exercise bike and I happened to look out of the patio doors and saw a peepingtom watching me, just his face as he was on the floor hidden by a wall. I don't know who was the most afraid but he shot off too.

Sorry - I'm sure that was scary but it did make me laugh :rotfl:

I envy you - thought everyone had to pay for green collections these days. The silly thing is they would get a lot more than just these bits off me if they collected for free, I struggle to get everything in my compost bin and have a couple of containers with things waiting to go into it - they would get all this and be able to sell the compost on! I am sure it would be better for them to do a green collection for free.

We don't get food waste bins though, although I do know people with pigs that occasionally get some from us :D
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

    Morning loverlies,
last week son in law had his car for sale and gave the address to a caller, that night the car was robbed of its goodies (its a hot hatch).
I got up four times that night as was sure there was someone outside......I didn't see them but was proved right.
On sunday I awoke in the night again to see a man walking silently in the middle of the road, he stopped at my house and looked at every window, then went towards the car, I called out "and what are you doing" he didn't even flinch just turned and carried on walking.
Lasst night we spent £600 on cctv, not very mse but we live in a really nice area and these scumbags are targetting us.

Final note, the car was part exchanged yesterday so one less thing to worry about, it was robbed or broken into three times last year and fingerprint guy said they are the most targetted car in Essex.

I am convinced the theives have a gismo that mimics the radio frequency of our cars central locking, although the police say this is impossible. On 4 separate occasions we have had 3 cars opened (not broken into), glove box emptied & contents scattered all over the floor. Nothing taken, there is nothing to take, but we are all sure we locked the cars, and I believe they have been unlocked by a thief. Has anyone else had this?
