I have been doing Slimming World diet since January and have had very poor results. I eat loads of fruit & veg anyway but am still very overweight. I was thinking back to the 70s when I was growing up when everything was fried in lard, we ate real butter, not the plastic stuff that is usually on sale these days, only had sugar, not sweetners and hardly any processed food as it wasn't available. I never had a weight problem then.

It got me thinking about going back to basics and only eating foods that are natural, with 2, maybe 3 ingredients max. I bought proper butter this week, ingrediants: animal fat and milk. It tastes much nicer than the low fat stuff I bought when I thought I was doing the right thing and I don't eat as much because it tastes of something! I usually have sweetners in my drinks, but have cut that out this week and only had a few granules of sugar and I can't notice a difference in taste. I think that a lot of the obesity problems are down to processed, Low fat foods. They are low fat but still have calories as well as other additives which we are not programmed to process. Muller Light yoghurts which are "free" food on Slimming World are rammed pack with chemicals and sweetners. I have this week swapped to natural yoghurt wiith a drop of honey. I have already lost 2lb this week and feel loads better, apart from the headaches but I am hoping they will pass.
