How long to wait for seller who hasn't dispatched?

Hi

Last Sunday evening we bought an item on eBay for £97 and paid instantly.

The item was due to be delivered (according to eBay's timings) at the latest on Friday.

Their has been no acknowledgement from the seller to the transaction and no parcel has arrived, although paypal have confirmed payment was made.

Would now be a good time to ask the seller if 'everything is ok'? If so, how long do we give them to reply?

The seller has been leaving feedback for others this week, has 100% feedback (over 500) although has 2 neutrals, so is around.

Thanks.

Well seeing as its been a week without any comms, maybe a polite message asking when your item will be posted. Give them a couple of days to answer before considering doing anything else..

Yes, I think now is the time to be enquiring.

I won an auction last Sunday morning and paid straight away, but hadn't had any indication that it had been posted, so I messaged the seller Saturday lunchtime to enquire if it'd been posted.

A couple of hours later I got a message with profuse apologies and confirmation it had now been sent. A couple of minutes later it was marked as dispatched. Although I wonder if it's really going tomorrow morning, as it won't fit in the post box and most post offices aren't open on Saturday afternoons.

    Thank you everyone.

I didn't want to be too eager, but it is £97 and we don't normally spend that much on one item.

I shall contact them in a minute.

If no reply, or no parcel, by Wednesday? Then further action?

I've had no reply yet, but the estimated delivery has changed to 11-13 February.

Has the seller changed this themselves (can they?).
  • Could it be that the estimated delivery date changes once the seller marks the item as dispatched?

Nothing on there or any email received suggesting so. It's possible, but I shall await a reply still.
  • For an item worth £97, the eBay seller must have sent via a service of which can be tracked? Recorded delivery or signed for courier?

I always ask that they can provide proof of dispatch, and too relay any information with eBay and Paypal. I do that as a seller as a measure of making my customers feel assured and too look forward too there item coming, and not too feel nervous it might not come, or whether seller has indeed sent it.

My advice would be to raise a paypal complaint early, this way the funds will be frozen/retracted by paypal, and a case will undergo itself before time beats you to it, and you may lose out.

Wait for a response from the seller of course before doing so.

It just says 'economy delivery'. So economy, it's not even been considered for delivery yet....maybe.

His dispatch time stars are quite low - 4.2 - his feedback has a mixture of fast delivery and slow delivery - most items are private so can't see if their is a pattern with particular products.

So, how long do I wait before raising with paypal/ebay? Wednesday?
  • I'd do it now, I take it no response today from your email to the seller? If not, then go for a complaint via Paypal.

I'm sure the seller will respond then.

    Best of luck...
