Orange bb for me is great, then again im on ADSL max wholesaled through BT, its the Orange LLU exchanges that seem to have the major problems, I get upto a 6.5MB connection a mile from the exchange - its never under 2MB, check here to see if your exchange is Orange LLU or Orange via BT wholesale

must say call quality is great as it goes out over BT not VOIP, Orange had taken a month put TALK live ( billing issue prevented activation ) & !!!!!!ed up my billing - but that seems normal for any communications company these days ! 3, o2, T-mob & BT have all done thier fair share to me over last few years

We are a household of 5, each with a laptop all using wireless at same time. We got Orange BB Unlimited (for the £5 extra per month) few weeks ago. It was set up within 10 days, and talk was working 2 days after that. So have had absolutely no problems at all with Orange BB so far. Making free calls to international numbers too and Orange mobiles in UK - its amazing! Have no complaints at all.
  • I've been with Orange for more than 10 years now (I joined them when they were called Freeserve), but I do notice lately that I have more internet and email problems. My partner wants us to move to Talk-Talk but since they had such a bad reputation, I am not sure about doing it, especially because usually I receive my jobs from the internet (I'm a translator). Can anyone suggest what is the good broadband, I don't mind to pay if it is a bit pricey, what I want is a good quality, fast and problem-free connection.

    Thanks!:T

I had mine activated after a few calls to them, they said my line wasn't active yet for broadband to which I replied I've been using it for five weeks!

Regarding the speed being slow, try a different router other than the livebox. My livebox gave me 1.5Mbit, I switched back to my Netgear with upgraded firmware and got 8Mbit without a problem. The only thing is I'm now looking for a way to use the talk part of the package again only without the livebox as the router. I don't want to be stuck with a choice of slow speeds and talk, or high speed and no talk really. Just posted a thread on the Techie section, maybe I should have done it here instead: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=477176
  • I've finally managed to move from Orange. It took 30 days to get my MAC after I had asked three time. I finally had to fax a member of their escalation team to get it. I also had to complain to OfCOM who really responded well by communicating with Orange on my behalf.

Suddenly their customer service piped up and it improved. I actually got letters with more than one paragraph in them. I also managed to get the MAC after I had stopped paying them. This something their customer service will not do unless you clear your account with them.

I've now moved to Zen and am already impressed as my connection speed has improved and I have an error free connection. The Orange connection often got errors and sometimes would not connect for hours. I could have got cheaper then Zen, but I didn't want to be bound by a 12month contract.

Orange won't get their money however, Keeping me on for 30 days more than I wanted to with no promise of a MAC, a clear breach of OFCOM rules and poor customer service and a less than optimal connection.

Orange are alright once you get connected, but just try and leave.

I've been with Orange since the days of Freeserve. Was great then but appallingly bad now. I'm going to ditch them as soon as I get back from holiday at the end of the month.

When I first tried my Netgear 834G router it did only give me 2Mbit, but after updating the firmware from version 1.5 to 3 something it shot right up to 8Mbit. Not that impressed with the livebox, but looks like I may need to use it in some way if I wish to use the talk features too.

I'm thinking about having the livebox connected as the router then a switch or my other router run from it. This would let me use Talk, although the speed issue could be there again.
