Wireless room thermostat advice please

Hi all, just thought I'd post to let you know how things are going.
Well we decided to go with the combi solution - having chosen the Worcester Greenstar 32CDI. Reason for this is in case we decide to carry out a loft conversion in the future we would have a boiler with capacity to handle the extra water demand without having to worry about moving any tanks.
Also went with the Honeywell CM927 and Fernox TF1 as well as a SESI in-line scale inhibitor on the mains for added peace of mind, not sure if that's overkill but I don't mind spending the extra £50 it cost.
We obtained 4 quotes and are now going with a local guy who has been recommended and charging a total of £900 for full works to decommission and remove the tank based system and install the combi, this also includes a chemical powerflush. I'm happy with the quote - it seems to be in the ballpark figure between £850 - £1100.
They're coming tomorrow to start working - nervous and excited at the same time!
Will let you know how it goes!!0 -
Hi Just read your thread we had a new WB combi installed last Sept, we went for the WB wireless thermostat as I thought if there was a subsequent problem with the boiler if we had aWB control then they could not say the fault was not the boiler but the control!!
Also are you going through a WB accredited installer as they give a 7 year warranty if you do.
Just realised that you are getting the work done to-morrow so all this might be to no avail.
Hope all goes well for you and I do think your choice of boiler is a good one.0 -
we are replacing a Potterton Netaheat 10/16 ElectronicWell we decided to go with the combi solution - having chosen the Worcester Greenstar 32CDI.Our mains flow rate was measured at 16 and pressure at 1.5.

OK, so the installation was completed yesterday and the system fired up and balanced. Took a while to get all the rads working but he had to rebalance all the radiators as they were now hooked up slightly differently.
Had a couple of faults though, one of the radiators would not get hot despite turning off all the other radiators in the house via the thermostat and valve control either side of each radiator and there was a nasty pipe hammer sound whenever we started and stopped the taps. This was sorted by opening up the stopcock fully (it was almost closed). The radiator problem could be becuase he thinks its plumbed in as a 'summer rad' in his words and will need to come back and check the plumbing once the builders come on site and pull up the floorboards on Monday.
Re warranty, I should get a 5 year warranty on this not 7 years and yes he had to change the gas supply from 15mm to 22mm.
Re the water pressure - no he didn't do anything or mention that this needed to be addressed, should he have done and how do we achieve this (asking the water auth or using special equipment)?
Overall though it's all in and seems to be working - the real test will come when we finish the bathroom refurb and plumb the shower in and test it properly!0 -

Oh, my. Water supply should have been dealt with before the installation. Has the gas supply been upgraded from the meter to the boiler in 22 mm or just the last couple of meters to the boiler? Did the installer complete the Benchmark?0 -
If you have a water meter you need a shock arrestor fitted on the main water pipe to stop the banging when you close the tap. I'm not sure what's wrong with 1.5 bar dynamic pressure and 16 lpm?0

OP never stated whether water pressure was standing or dynamic. I would want more than 1.5 bar as WB spec. minimum mains inlet pressure (working) for maximum flow as 1.6 bar. Also don't know under what site conditions or how the flow rate was measured.0 -
Standing pressure means nothing, it will be dynamic pressure that was measured (working). Haven't installed for a while but Worcester's nominal pressure for operation was 0.2bar, I certainly wouldn't be worrying myself between 1.5 and the 1.6 for optimal performance.0

Hi, just catching up on the updates, we've had builders in to start working on the bathroom re-fit and new WC install so have been tied up with that.
Reading the last posts has got me concerned.
"..if you have a water meter"
We don't have one, but the problem was sorted by opening up the stopcock fully (minus one small turn).
"Water supply should have been dealt with before the installation" - all they did was check the flow by using a flow gauge.
"Has the gas supply been upgraded from the meter to the boiler in 22 mm or just the last couple of meters to the boiler?"
It was already 22mm from the meter upto the cooker point which was then connected to the old boiler by 15mm - this last stage was converted to 22mm.
"Did the installer complete the Benchmark?"
I'm not sure because I did not receive a copy. I have asked him just now to confirm and send me the copy or to come back and complete the benchmark.
Assuming he has not done this, or doesn't want to - what do I do?
Thanks

He advised that the benchmark had indeed been completed, it was in the back of the installation manual. I didn't see him do this and didn't tell me either. There is a bit about B. Regs Notification number - do I need this and how do I get it?
Thanks for your help and advice in this area.
