really miffed at the mo! I ordered some beads etc online on Thursday evening. As I desperately needed some crystal beads to complete a commission order for a bride - I paid extra for 'next day delivery'. okay the place isnt open 24/7 I wasnt expecting them on Friday, but this morning, (Saturday). whole day gone by and when I just logged on I see an email saying delivery on Monday!
Am I unreasonable in thinking that isnt good enough? its also a bit awkward as I know I wont be in to recieve the parcel during the morning! and I dont want it left with neighbours (cant trust them).
That means if I cant get it mon - I will have to rearrange delivery.
I could have saved myself £4.50 and it would have prob been delivered by Royal Mail Monday or Tuesday.
I emailed the company back pointing out that Monday is hardly next day - but on reflection, perhaps I was a bit harsh saying I may well shop elsewhere in future as they have been ok in the past!
oh well, rant over!

Some retailers do not offer next day delivery on a weekend. Hence, if you order on Friday, or after a certain time on Thursday, the next day for delivery would be Monday.0

True cockaleekee - but those retailers usually specify that! in fact I thought they had to, legally. I know I did as an Ebay seller of jewellery!0

As a retailer, we use Royal Mail Special Delivery for next day, before 1pm deliveries. However, their service relates to next working day, Saturday isn't classed as a working day, so items posted on Friday will not be delivered until Monday.
If you neededed them today, it would perhaps have been worth phoning them to see if they could suggest a way for that to happen for you, but lots of couriers don't do Saturday deliveries either.
It is a difficulty as many customers want Saturday delivery ant there aren't many who will do it at a reasonable enough cost that people will pay the amount they charge.0 -

No, they do not legally have to state that, and nor does an ebay seller (although ebay may specify that you must under their own policies). You should have asked the question.0 -
Ty - JonathanA - I did pay extra for next day delivery and, weirdly I expect next working day. What I am most miffed about is that there is no mention of this being Monday to Friday only on the retailers website, I naturally assumed that Saturday was included. and there are always lots of courier vans in the street on Saturdays - I even saw one of the firm named on the Tracking page today!0

The irony is that if they'd posted using RM 1st class on Friday, you may well have received them today. It is frustrating, but I don't honestly think the retailer has done anything wrong, business days are still classed as Monday - Friday for some reason, even though we now live in a 7 day a week trading world. If we post something Special Delivery on a Friday we always email the customer with the tracking number and let them know it will be a Monday delivery, just to avoid doubt.0

You are missing the point JonathanA, if I had seen a notice on thier checkout page to the effect that postings on Friday wont be delivered til Monday I would either have used the ordinary RM 1st class delivery - or more likely not bought there and got OH to take me today about 50 miles to the nearest shop which I KNOW sells the crystal beads I use! I use the online service as its really more convenient for me - plus, once I am let loose in a craft shop I tend to just pile everything I want (not need) into my basket, then nearly faint at the cost! ordering online keeps me within budget!LOL0

I do get what you're saying, but I honestly think that the retailer could have made it clear, but equally you could have checked rather than assuming, I think it's 50/50 to be honest. I know it's frustrating, and I totally get the convenience of online shopping, but I don't think it's fair to totally blame the shop you bought from. That's just my opinion of course, and I know that I'm not always right.
In your original post you asked if you were being unreasonable - perhaps not, but it is dangerous to assume.
Hope you manage to get them delivered when it's convenient. Will they fit through your letterbox? If so, you could leave a signed note for the courier so that they will leave them for you on Monday without you having to rearrange delivery.0 -

may not be delivered0 -
You're quite right, may not be. Of course you can pay an extra £3 on top of the special delivery prices to guarantee Sturday delivery.0
