I know what you mean about artificially confident kids Al. During the independence referendum, I was torn between being amused and horrified by the posh little twits parroting mum and dad's political views when interviewed. You could tell when the views being stated weren't their own, because they tripped off their tongue with no room for doubt (because they weren't really thinking about it, they were regurgitating). The kids who had obviously developed their own views, on the other hand, faltered occasionally and actually sounded like children, because they had thought about the topic and had the good grace to realise that they might be wrong! :rotfl:

Not that I've anything about being a posh twit, we like Classic FM in our house :)

Well where I come from they call that *gurt posh*.

I have had the world's laziest day today and I might have joined the MMM forum.
  • Hello,

I share your obsession, Alchemilla. Somehow I think that having less junk is more thrifty and therefore I will be able to retire earlier. It makes absolutely no sense but I continue to link the two things. Obviously, buying less stuff will help, but once you have already bought something, decluttering it won't help me retire earlier!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I totally get this. They are linked in my mind too. And its daft really :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Over the last 5 years or so, I've decluttered lots of things.

I think it's linked to freeing oneself from the shackles of the past, and moving forward lightly and with freedom.

That's how it seems to me, anyway!
    :rotfl:

I have been doing some de-cluttering this year, but it has been on the back burner slightly.

But next year will herald a major de-cluttering push

    That is prettily said Goldie.

There is some logic to it...

if I get sacked and have to sell my house it will be easier

I feel like my house is bigger

I can see what I have got so can avoid buying a second *whatever* because I can find the first.

Ponyplops was only marginally naughty at today's rally. I terrified her by being completely unreasonable and drying her. With a TOWEL.

Not really been especially productive otherwise and guess who left all gheir homework til Sunday night?

Also an epic fail on the budgeting as too lazy/disorganised to keep it up.

Squirrel I want to be like you (hoo hoo) and be able to rid myself of the Sunday night dread.
  • But I don't think you want to walk like me, talk like me, ooby doo.

At least you haven't ended up with a huge overdraft as in the Watty household (well hope you haven't!)

  • Ohh poor ponyplops, they do like to keep us on our toes. Mine is usually fine with dogs jumping up behind gates yapping but will be terrified of a slightly different coloured leaf.
