Usually a good sign, hope she's better soon.

Yes big ouch, but it's in her last year at school, she works really hard and although I think it's ridiculous, I thought let her... we should be a lot nearer our goal by then. I pay £100 a month.

Its a great opportunity. I think being able to ski is a social advantage.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I learnt to ski and to be honest its not an advantage to me! I am glad I did it when I was young though. I think I could muster up a family ski trip for about £800, but its not the same as going on a school tip...its so exciting!

Glad your mum is on the mend.

Its crazy Ed. Its the non optional nature that really bugs me.

Laura Jo my Ma is in hosp. But work too!

So this is the thing that gets me as much as the cost ... your ma is in the hospital, you have a family, a life and responsibilities, yet they just expect you to drop everything to go be on call 24 hours a day for however many days with the kids .... and also pay for the "privilege". Feeling very indignant on your behalf A  this happened to me several times and it doesn't add to the team spirit much.

I hope your mum gets better soon and that DD's feeling perkier too

I think the advantage tends to preempt the skiing. I've done quite a few seasons and was mostly reluctantly mixing with trust fund kids who couldn't do anything beyond skiing and remembering Mum's pin number.... Aged 30 in many cases!

Not that it's a sore point with me or anything.....:o

Alchemilla, I think you're being very kind, it's probably more the case that I'm a complete muppet than you did any misleading.

Still, if you ever need anyone to be outrageously indignant on your behalf, I'm your girl! * rearranges toys back nicely into pram *

:T The week's downhill from here!
