Thanks Lois.
Not someone I was close to but someone I had a lot of respect for.0 -
Gally did you read any Dave Ramsey yet?
I have never seen him in person/on a video, although I am familiar with some of his writing.
I imagine he'd be like a nice financial Christian version of Jeremy Kyle?0 -
I have read him and he can be quite holy, but lots of good sense so not preachy.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Yeah I find him not preachy but very Christian and waaay too right wing but I try to ignore his politics.0

Been cleaning today. Puppy love shamed me when I cleaned the base of Baby's high chair by getting down on the floor with me and clearly saying "What on earth are you doing, I have never seen that before?"
Floor has had it's annual mop (not so much of a joke) and is dry and ready for the ebay chairs which look fab, but are a tad low if I'm fussy.
The sap is rising I guess and I feel a bit like I'm getting my mojo back a bit. I haven't seen it for a few years.
Guy at work who got the job I wanted last summer told me yesterday he thought he had made a mistake and was going to apply for the one I'm applying for...noooooo!
So today I am grateful for
* sunshine
* homebrew!
* my brother who is chasing up a neddy for me
* a clean kitchen
* full log baskets
Baby's second birthday tomorrow, may have to stop calling him a baby. All three ponies were duds...one shies in the school, one shies out of the school, one doesn't-have-sweet itch-just-rubs-his-mane-honest.

Not read Dave Ramsay yet - and the comments here have not exactly made me itch to do so :rotfl:, but will pop to library when back in UK.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

He is very good on money.
Today I cooked from 8.30 til 12.00, had lunch with rellies (9 of us in total) for Baby's birthday. During the afternoon there were 3 phone calls which we didn't answer since we had guests. They were all (and one email) from his godparents who we had arranged to see after Church tomorrow, wanting to come round. I emailed saying we had rellies and we would see them tomorrow as arranged...5 minutes later they rock up here with 20 min to go before Dr Who...and at Baby's bedtime.
Lunch was pleasing, almond coated goats' cheese, artichoke paella, lemon and lime eton mess (would have been pavlova but my meringues flopped and stuck because my bacoglide went down the back of the dresser and I can't get it out!!) cheese and birthday cake.
Bit knackered now.
Today I am grateful for
* Baby being so pleased with his pressies
* My Dad putting batteries in everything
* DH cleaning while I cooked
* sunshine
* DD1 who has been a star today.

Hello Lois and Radish. *waves*
Church this morning, took DS to the rail for a blessing as I went for communion. He posted a Tombliboo through the rail which was then rescued by a churchwarden...bit embarassing. Then had his Godparents and their Aunt for coffee and cake and sorted his Big Boy bed and dismantled the cot after sticking it on ebay. Hope he doesn't fall out. Met a guy about stables and here we are.
Today I'm grateful for
* invitation to reunion at an Oxford college
* DS not fallen out of bed yet...or got out.
* sunshine
* our fabulous vicar
* my Dad who has been hedge laying for me.

Glad your vicar is fabulous. Hope the churchwarden was OK about the tombliboo. Frankly, anybody who can't cope with a tombliboo being posted through the railings at communion isn't a suitable person to be a churchwarden IMO.
